About Me

I was recently honored to receive the South Florida Theatre League’s 2025 Remy Award for
“Outstanding Behind the Scenes Contribution”.

“Carol Kassie has been working behind the scenes as a marketing professional for multiple theatre companies in South Florida for two decades. Her focus goes beyond simply getting “butts in seats” with the organizations she works with, including assisting with acquiring venues, contacting actors and advising market conditions. Carol Kassie also served two distinguished terms on the Board of Directors of the South Florida Theatre League.  In his nomination, Ralph Kassie (her husband, who nominated her without her knowledge) said, “There are very few people in the local industry who do not know Carol. She is respected and admired for her love of South Florida Theater which has always been beyond compensation.”

I have had a deep and abiding love for the arts, particularly theatre, since I was a small child and my parents presented me with an original Broadway cast recording of “My Fair Lady”.  Armed with a degree in Theatre from Sir George Williams University (now Concordia University) in Montreal, Canada, I became …a librarian. I spent 30 years in Ottawa, Canada, raising two children with my husband, Ralph, working first as a librarian and then in our family’s Army/Navy business, all the while actively participating in many of the Ottawa Community’s cultural events.  A move to South Florida in 2001 offered me an opportunity to return to my first love, theatre, and I jumped at the chance – I currently do freelance theatrical marketing, public relations, and audience growth and development for various local and national theatres, theatre companies, and cultural organizations.
