Invasion of Privacy is based on the lawsuit brought against Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (The Yearling) by her neighbor, Zelma Cason. Cason contended that Rawlings’ description of ‘her’ character in Rawlings’ book Cross Creek made her out to be a ‘hussy’ and sued the author for invasion of privacy (the courts of the time found libel to be too ambiguous). It was a cause of action that had never been argued in a Florida court. “That was a time when a woman lawyer was a novelty in the South, and man’s moonshine was nobody’s business, and an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit was something of a brand-new issue, which eventually became a popular reason for going to court.” Jack Lyons, Theatre & Film

“Tonight, Walt is going to read you a screenplay he wrote. It’s about his last days on earth. It’s about a city he’s going to build that’s going to change the world. And it’s about his brother. It’s about everyone who loves him so much, and it’s about how sad they’re going to be when he’s gone. Right? I mean, how can they live without him? How can anyone live without him?”
A blackly comic inversion of the public Disney persona, in the form of a stylized screenplay being read in an anonymous-looking corporate conference room.

In this two-man musical spoof, a pair of aspiring playwrights perform a backers’ audition for their new project – a big, splashy musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud and Doug sing all the songs and play all the parts in their crass historical epic, with the hope that one of the producers in attendance will give them a Broadway contract – fulfilling their ill-advised dreams.

It Had To Be You is an absurd, fast-paced comedy about Theda Blau, a zany, eccentric, ex-Hollywood B movie actress and ‘wannabe’ playwright seeking love and/or a writing partner in New York City. She meets TV producer-director Vito Pignoli when she (unsuccessfully) auditions for one of his commercials. Vito is charmed by Theda’s offbeat take on life. After the audition they share a cab, and Vito, the nice guy that he is, helps Theda carry her Christmas packages to her door. She invite’s Vito in, hoping he will read her latest ‘masterpiece’ and help connect her to a producer. Vito happily accepts the invitation, but he has other things on his mind. What happens there, on that fateful snowy Christmas Eve in Theda’s East Village apartment is the basis of this laugh-out-loud madcap comedy.

How on earth can three men do the impossible: act through William Shakespeare’s entire canon – 37 plays – in 97 minutes? By summarizing the canon through football plays, rap songs, and outrageously condensed comedy, mash-up titles (like Four Weddings and a Transvestite) of course! The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) hilariously summarizes all of Shakespeare’s plays using reenactments and audience participation. It is famous for holding the (self-proclaimed) record for the shortest production of Hamlet at 43 seconds. An extremely popular play that ran in London for nine years and has enjoyed countless productions in various languages throughout the world, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) entertains and teaches audiences facts about Shakespeare while ensuring them a rollicking good time.

Leo is fresh from a cross-country bike ride, and assures Vera that he won’t stay long. Leo, however, is in crisis, confused by an on-again, off-again romance, furious with his mother’s incessant meddling, and grieving deeply for his best friend and biking partner, Micah, who is recently deceased. While Leo seeks solace in his grandmother, Vera finds companionship in another person since the loss of her husband, Joe. Sweet and shy Olive brings only her best friend (the dictionary) with her to the bee; Bold and hyper-allergic speller William Barfee uses his “magic foot” to propel him to greatness; former champion Chip is struggling with his burgeoning puberty; easily distracted Leaf is unconvinced that he’s smart enough to be a challenger; overachiever Marcy is disappointed by her consistent success; and politically aware Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre only wants to impress her gay dads. In hilarious, touching, and catchy songs, each speller reveals his/her hopes, struggles, and passions as they make their way through the competition. With an engaging, tuneful score by William Finn and a sweet, funny book by Rachel Sheinkin, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee causes audiences to fall in love, both with the show itself and its “perspicacious,” “jocular,” and “effervescent” spellers.

Hi-ya-ya-hi-ya. Listen to the tom-tom drums and the message spoken by the “Wordspinner” that opens and closes this charming adventure suitable for all age groups. The name Pocahontas, belonging to the daughter of the powerful Algonquin Chief Powhatan, means “She-Who-Likes-To-Be-Mischievous.” It’s a fitting name, because the princess enjoys playing tricks and games, especially with Wolf, Raven and Squirrel… her playmates in the forest. She also makes friends with the English settlers in the struggling community of Jamestown. They have no food, and sickness has almost wiped them out. Pocahontas would like to help them, but Thundercloud, the medicine man, forbids it. When Captain John Smith, the leader of Jamestown, comes to the Indian village, he is condemned to death. In a thrilling scene, Princess Pocahontas saves his life and finds a way for the Indians and the settlers to live in harmony and friendship. This colorful play features a wonderful cast of characters: Little Running Rabbit, Brave Eagle, Aunt Morning Star, Forest Spirits, Mother Earth and the people of Jamestown. Filled with Native American lore and true to the original legend, it’s an entertaining and fascinating page from our country’s history that glows with excitement and warmth.

Brad Zimmerman’s My Son the Waiter: A Jewish Tragedy is the story of one man’s struggle to fulfill his dream and ‘make it’ as a comedic actor in New York. Zimmerman paid his dues! He spent 29 years “temporarily” waiting tables in New York, all the while chasing a career in acting and comedy. He tells of his pursuit, along with stories about his childhood, family, and misbegotten love life with warmth, wit, self-deprecating humor, and wicked charm, and combines his years of training as an actor with his innate comedic talent.

From its record breaking, award winning run in the heart of Broadway, Jake Ehrenreich returns to Florida with a newly minted version of his hit comedy musical A Jew Grows in Brooklyn. The New York Times raves “Brooklyn is beautiful, touching and funny – like Billy Crystal’s 700 Sundays” and New York Magazine declares it “poignant and hilarious”.
From the streets of Brooklyn and struggle with his family’s survivor past, to the laughter and rebirth of a Catskills nightclub – with music, humor and multi-media – Jake Ehrenreich recreates his unforgettable journey of discovery – now made more famous in his critically acclaimed bestselling book by the Chicken Soup for the Soul publishers. Directed by NY theater veteran Jon Huberth, Broadway World raves “it’s one of the most uplifting evenings one can spend in the theater. Ehrenreich masterfully takes the audience from tears to laughter and back again.” and The Miami Herald declares “it’s a knockout – somewhere two loving parents are kvelling over the son who did them proud.”

The madcap Marx Brothers musical. A touching, song-filled celebration of the origins of these show-business legends and gutsy, tender, matriarch Minnie Marx, the extraordinary woman who gave birth to a generation of laughter in the form of the maddest, merriest quintet that ever drove a mother-and then the world-wild. This is their story—and Minnie’s as well. “Mama a Rainbow,” “Rich Is,” “They Give Me Love” and the title song are just a few of the catchy, Broadway-style melodies in this hummable score from the composer of Goodtime Charley and Snoopy.
