BOCA RATON, FL:  Along with their commitment to provide opportunities for young and up and coming talent, Entr’Acte Theatrix has a longstanding tradition of giving back to their community.  They have often donated tickets and profits to local and national not-for-profit organizations, including Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, Compass LGBTQ Community Center, Red Nose Day – Comic Relief, and earthquake victims in Haiti.  They are continuing this tradition in a different way with their upcoming production of Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein, which will open on October 21st, and run through October 30th at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton.

“We have set our ticket prices at $20 for this production,” says Entr’Acte Theatrix producer and founder Vicki Halmos.  “We believe this very low price for a fully produced musical comedy will encourage people who have been hesitant to venture back into a theatre until now will find this an incentive to do so.  And that it will perhaps encourage those who have never seen live theatre to come to the Willow Theatre to see what it’s all about!

“In addition, for this show we are holding an on-line auction to benefit Hurricane Ian relief efforts and offering a chance for an audience member to join the cast on stage in a scene during the show,” she adds.

“We have a wonderfully talented cast, they’re doing a marvelous job, and it’s such a fun show,” she continues, “And we want to share the fun with as many people as we can!”

A wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend, Mel Brooks’ comedy masterpiece follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that’s Fronkensteen!) as he attempts to complete his grandfather’s masterwork and bring a corpse to life. Together with his oddly shaped and endearing helper Igor (that’s Eye-gor), his curvaceous lab assistant Inga, and in spite of his incredibly self-involved madcap fiancé Elizabeth, Frankenstein succeeds in creating a monster — but not without scary and quite often hilarious complications

Tickets for Young Frankenstein – The Mel Brooks Musical are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.sugarsandpark.org/young-frankenstein or by phone at 561-347-3948.  Tickets are $20.  Group rates (10 or more tickets purchased in one transaction) are $15.

BOCA RATON, FL:  Entr’Acte Theatrix, whose previous productions such as Into the Woods, Avenue Q, Spamalot, and The Rocky Horror Show have proven to be consistently popular with young and older audiences alike, will present Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein – The Mel Brooks Musical from October 21st through October 30th at the Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park. This will be the company’s first production at the popular Boca Raton venue.

A wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend, Mel Brooks’ comedy masterpiece follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that’s Fronkensteen!) as he attempts to complete his grandfather’s masterwork and bring a corpse to life. Together with his oddly shaped and endearing helper Igor (that’s Eye-gor), his curvaceous lab assistant Inga, and in spite of his incredibly self-involved madcap fiancé Elizabeth, Frankenstein succeeds in creating a monster — but not without scary and quite often hilarious complications.

“We have not produced a show since 2019 because of the pandemic, and I was not prepared to do so until the audience was ready to return,” says Entr’Acte Theatrix producer and founder Vicki Halmos. “Fortunately, I have seen strong evidence of that in the last few months. We will be in a new venue The Willow Theatre, in Boca Raton, which is very exciting. We are fortunate to have Jeremy Quinn as our director, who has expertise in the Mel Brooks comedic style and he will be joined by our long-standing music director, Roger Blankenship. In addition, we will be adding Andy Morejon, from our Entr’Acte ranks, to choreograph.

“Entr’Acte Theatrix has a tradition of promoting young artists to director positions who have honed their skills working in Entr’Acte productions specifically,” Halmos explains. “At Entr’Acte, our practice is to engage local emerging talent, and give them continuing support and opportunities to polish and enhance their skills. Several of our Young Frankenstein cast members were part of the Halmos’ Palm Beach Principal Players group several years ago, and are now back with freshly minted theatre degrees, and looking for the on-stage experience Entr’acte provides.  Our young cast is enthusiastically gearing up to be a part of what promises to be one of the outstanding productions of the coming season!  We hope our South Florida audience will continue to support local theater in developing a world class body of actors, and creative teams,” she concludes.

“I’m delighted to be returning to Entr’Acte for my fourth show, directing Young Frankenstein,” says director Jeremy Quinn. “This is my first opportunity to direct a large-scale musical (in-person) after the pandemic, so I’m incredibly grateful to Vicki Halmos and Entr’Acte for inviting me back to the table. I’ve been wanting to sink my teeth into something like this for quite some time, needless to say.

Jeremy Quinn

“Comedy has always been a strong suit in my 40+ year career in theatre, so the opportunity to tackle one of the greatest comedic properties of all time is nothing short of thrilling!” he continues. “After directing the national tour of Old Jews Telling Jokes (before the pandemic), I realize how much more I’ve added to my comedic canon from working with several masters of comedy in that production…and what a fitting segue to this project! Obviously, I’m a long-time fan of Mel Brooks and his unapologetic comedic style, so all the good stuff audiences remember from his movies will be on display here; including all the funny bits, nuances and innuendos.

“I can’t wait to share my joy of comedy with the Young Frankenstein cast and strengthen their knowledge/experience of what comprises good comedic timing. It’s actually somewhat mathematical and scientific when you break it down. Like I always say (even when directing a drama)…Find The Funny! It’s always there, you just have to look for it… and right now, audiences are desperately needing it.”

Young Frankenstein’s cast includes Kevin Cruz as Frederick Frankenstein, Chase Stante as the Monster, Greg Halmos as Igor, Nicole Roach as Inga, Ashley Gravlin as Frau Blucher, Kalli Courakos as Elizabeth, and Carlo Sabusap as the Constable and the Hermit.  Also cast are Chris Calhoun, Christian Cooper, Briana Earhart, Tyler Fitch, Victoria Hocton, Nysia Matos, Andy Morejon, TJ Pursley, Sarah Rayburn, and Hannah Rosenberg.

DELRAY BEACH, FL:  It’s never too early to think about Halloween, and who better to celebrate the fast approaching holiday with than the denizens of Dr. Frank N. Furter’s home-sweet-castle in Richard O’Brien’s beloved cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show.   Entr’Acte Theatrix is inviting audiences to come do the Time Warp again… when they present ‘Rocky’ in the Fieldhouse at Old School Square from September 13th through September 22nd.

The Rocky Horror Show is an outrageous assemblage of – and humorous tribute to – the most stereotypical science fiction and horror movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings and rock ‘n’ roll of every vintage. The play (upon which the classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show is based) has grown from an experimental production originally produced in a small London theatre in June 1973, to a cult phenomenon with fans world-wide.  The musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple who, when caught in a storm, find refuge in the home of a decidedly unusual scientist who is madly working towards unveiling his latest and greatest creation.

Rocky is also the quintessential audience participation show, and Entr’Acte will have what have come to be known as  ‘survival kits’ available for purchase for those who want them.

This is the fourth time Entr’Acte Theatrix will present The Rocky Horror Show.   Their 2012, 2014, and 2017 productions were so successful that when an encore presentation was suggested, it was, as Entr’Acte’s founder and producer Vicki Halmos says, “A ‘no brainer’!  Our audiences love the show,” she continues, “and so does our cast.  You can see it during rehearsals.  Their enthusiasm is boundless, and they are so excited to be able to bring all these characters to life – figuratively and literally!” she says with a smile.

Carlo Rufino-Sabusap, who has appeared in each of the company’s Rockys as well as numerous other Entr’Acte productions, will direct the production.  He will also play Dr. Scott:

Carlo Rufino-Sabusap

“In an age and political climate where we should be progressing as a society and species, we are instead given constant reminders that bigotry is living strong and that people who are different from the status quo are considered less than people, and in some cases, stripped of their rights,” he says. “Rocky Horror celebrates the idea of the outsider. We not only want the audience to have fun, but they should also realize that the enjoyment they are experiencing is because a group of wildly different people from different backgrounds and life experiences worked together to make something great. This is our 4th time mounting this show, and I believe it is our value of working TOGETHER, and including our differences, that we are making something Great Again.”

Cast in Entr’Acte’s Rocky Horror Show are Drew Brown as Brad Majors, Mary Grace Tesoriero as Janet Weiss, Rosseroni Parris as Frank N. Furter, Elana Vital as Magenta, Lara Williams-Palmer as Columbia, Greg Halmos as Riff Raff, Jon Tinker as Rocky, Andy Morejon as Eddie, Ashley Gravlin as the Usherette, and Jeremy Quinn as The Criminologist. Also in the cast are Briana Earhart, Sarah Kenny, Nysia Matos, Sara Rayburn, and Nik Rosa.

Along with director Sabusap, the show’s production crew includes co-Producer Greg Halmos, Musical Directors Roger Blankenship and Mariano Garcia, Choreographer Andy Morejon, and Stage Manager Skylar Stratemeyer.

The Rocky Horror Show will run for 11 performances only, from September 13 – 22, in the Fieldhouse at Old School Square. The theatre is located at 51 North Swinton Avenue, in Delray Beach (33444) Tickets are on sale now, and are available on line at http://entractetheatrix.com/. Ticket prices range from $45 for VIP Table Seating, $35 General Floor Seating, $25 Balcony Seating.

May 21, 2019:

DELRAY BEACH, FL: Entr’Acte Theatrix will revisit one of the silliest places on earth when their encore production of Monty Python’s Spamalot opens at the Crest Theatre at Old School Square in Delray Beach.   The show will run from June 20th through the 30th. The award-winning musical is “lovingly ripped off” from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with a book by Python Eric Idle, and a score by Idle and John Du Prez. Like the film, Spamalot is a totally irreverent and typically Pythonesque parody of the Arthurian saga:

The legendary King Arthur, accompanied by his faithful servant, Patsy, travels through his kingdom, collecting members for his Knights of the Round Table.  Some of his recruits include Sir Robin, a collector of plague victims, and Lance a ‘large, handsome, and incredibly violent man’, who agree to join him – Lance ‘for the fighting’, and Robin for ‘the singing and dancing’.  The Lady of the Lake (and her Laker Girls), Sir Bedevere, and Sir Dennis Galahad eventually join Arthur in his search for The Holy Grail. The show also features a bevy of beautiful girls (of course), not to mention ‘cows, killer rabbits, and French people’.  As The Sunday Times observed, Monty Python’s Spamalot ‘raises silliness to an art form’.

Entr’Acte Theatrix has assembled a talented cast to populate the surreal World of Python.  The suitably kingly Troy Stanley will take on the role of Arthur, and Greg Halmos will play his faithful Patsy.  Kalli Courakos will play The Lady of the Lake and Rosseroni Parris will don Sir Galahad’s armor. Also cast are Christian Ortega as Brave Sir Robin, Dallas Erwin as Sir Lancelot, and Chris Cimorelli as Sir Bedevere. Other cast members include Ennalls Berl, Drew Brown, Briana Earhart, Savanna Marino, Nysia Matos, Andy Morejon, Sarah Rayburn, Hannah Rosenberg, Carlo Rufino-Sabusap, Ben Shaevitz, and Nicole Stav.

“We consider this production of Spamalot a celebration of our 10 years as Entr’acte Theatrix,” the company’s Founder/Producer Vicki Halmos says.  We’ve captured a few of our original cast members from our 2013 production to reprise their roles.

“Spamalot did, and will again, allow our very talented cast to hone their comedic skills and to bring this tribute to the iconic Monty Python troupe,” she continues. “In preparation, particularly with new cast members, we had a workshop before we began rehearsals to encourage these cast members to hone their comedy chops, and I think the audiences will be delighted in what we have created. In addition, we have a couple of Palm Beach Principle Players/Entr’acte Theatrix alums in various positions – including our director, JR Coley, and our Choreographer, Jamie Mattocks. Both of these talented thespians were cast members together in our production of Oklahoma many years ago when they were still in high school and college. That particular early production set the standard of excellence for us having since turned out two Tony winners, and gave that cast the chance to work with a world class choreographer from the NY dance world. Our standard of excellence continues in providing performance and production training opportunities for young actors on the brink of their careers, and also allowing them to remain in Palm Beach County to begin building their resumes.”

Monty Python’s Spamalot will run for 12 performances only, from June 20th to 30th, at the Crest Theatre at Old School Square in Delray Beach.  The theatre is located at 51 North Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, 33444.  Tickets are on sale now and are available online at  https://oldschoolsquare.org/ or by calling 561-243-7922. Tickets are $35 – $45; $25 for groups of 10 or more. $15 Student Rush tickets will be available ½ hour before curtain only, with valid ID.

October 1, 2018
DELRAY BEACH, FL: Entr’Acte Theatrix audiences are in for a fiendishly delightful treat beginning October 25th when Delray Beach’s Crest Theatre @ Old School Square will host Charles Addams’ wonderfully bizarre cast of characters known as The Addams Family – just in time for Halloween! The award-winning musical will run through November 4th.

Charles Addams’ ghoulishly clever and devilishly satirical Addams Family cartoons first began appearing in the New Yorker magazine in 1938, and his characters captured the hearts and the humor of the American public almost immediately.  A close knit, loving family, with a few odd quirks – and a definite affinity for the bizarre and macabre – the Addams Family has appeared in a number of film and television adaptations since their debut, however The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy is based on Addams’ cartoons, rather than any of the characters as they were portrayed in film or on television.

Addams Family patrons are being encouraged to come dressed in Halloween costumes, and several appropriately garbed audience members will be invited to join the cast on stage during the last scene of the show!

Jeremy Quinn, who directed Entr’Acte’s most recent production of The Rocky Horror show will helm the production:

“The Addams Family has been around for a little over 80 years, whether in cartoon form, on television, in film or on Broadway,” he says. “This family has endured the test of time because they are, above all else, a family. Even though they have a zombie for a butler, a cousin covered in hair, and a dismembered hand in a box named “Thing”, they are actually quite relatable. If we look closely enough at our own families…we’ve got at least one “Addams” somewhere along the line!

“But we love the Addams Family because they embrace their strangeness, which we should all do, within the most “normal” of circumstances,” he continues. “There’s nothing “wrong” here…just different. Let’s be real – unique authenticity is an increasingly valued trait. With 7.7 billion people on Earth, a little diversity provides an abundance of beautiful color!

“I am inspired by the book writer’s quote,” he says: “The unknown may be frightening, the darkness overwhelming, but if we don’t run from it, we may see our mysterious, miraculous lives finally illuminated. If we move toward the darkness, we might find love and acceptance. For when it is dark enough, we can see the stars.” – Rick Elice, book writer for The Addams Family.”

Entr’Acte’s Addams Family members include Ashley Gravlin as Morticia Addams, Carlo Sabusap as Gomez Addams, Mary Grace Tesoriero as Wednesday Addams, Greg Halmos as Pugsley Addams, John Costanzo as Fester Addams, Rosseroni Parris as Grandma Addams, Gustavo Garcia as Lurch, Robyn Eli Brenner as Lucas Beineke, Nicole Stav as Alice Beineke, and Mark Kirschenbaum as Malcolm Beineke. Also cast – as Addams Ancestors – are Irma Gloria, Emma Sue Harris, Nysia Matos, Mackenzie Anderson, Elana Vital, Jonathan Thoresen, Ben Shaevitz, Andy Morejon, and Trevohnn Garner.

“Gomez and Pugsley are enthusiastic. Morticia is even in disposition, muted, witty, sometimes deadly. Grandma Frump is foolishly good-natured. Wednesday is her mother’s daughter. A closely knit family, the real head being Morticia—although each of the others is a definite character—except for Grandma, who is easily led. Many of the troubles they have as a family are due to Grandma’s fumbling, weak character. The house is a wreck, of course, but this is a house-proud family just the same and every trap door is in good repair. Money is no problem…”  Charles Addams

Nominated for six Tony Awards, and winning 2, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on an eclectic group of sixth graders, who arrive at a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School to vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime; the Bee is run by three equally quirky grown-ups. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter – one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box!

That lovable family of creepy kooks is alive and well and living in their super-spooky mansion in Central Park. The Addams family, led by the elegantly gaunt and seemingly undead Morticia and her ever-devoted husband Gomez, is in turmoil. Their daughter Wednesday, now 18, finds herself falling in love—a sensation that is unsettling for both her and her family of endearing misfits. When the teen invites her new boyfriend, Lucas Beineke, over with his “normal” family to get better acquainted with the Addams household, comic chaos (including everything from mixed-up potions to a scorching tango) ensues.

The humor can be suggestive (sometimes even raunchy) as the ‘Old Jews’ make fun of themselves as well as followers of every other religion.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL:  Halloween is just around the corner, and who better to celebrate with than the denizens of Dr. Frank N. Furter’s home-sweet-castle in Richard O’Brien’s beloved cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show.   And Entr’Acte Theatrix is inviting audiences to come do the Time Warp again… when they present ‘Rocky’ at The PGA Arts Center October 19th through October 31st.

This is the third time Entr’Acte Theatrix will present The Rocky Horror Show.   Their 2012 and 2014 productions were so successful that when an encore presentation was suggested, it was, as Entr’Acte’s founder and producer Vicki Halmos says, “A ‘no brainer’!  Our audiences love the show,” she continues, “and so does our cast.  You can see it during rehearsals.  Their enthusiasm is boundless, and they are so excited to be able to bring all these characters to life – figuratively and literally!” she says with a smile.

“The Rocky Horror Show is just as relevant today as it was 44 years ago when it premiered,” says the production’s director, Jeremy Quinn.  “With the resurgence of hate, bigotry and violence for those who are ‘different’, it’s not only an appropriate time and place to produce the show, it’s a responsibility. RHS allows us the opportunity to give the ‘others’ a voice and platform to be seen, heard, embraced and accepted…while having A REALLY GREAT TIME AND LOADS OF SALACIOUS FUN!!!!!!!”

Cast in Entr’Acte’s Rocky are Bruno Faria as Brad Majors, Mary Grace Tesoriero as Janet Weiss, Rosseroni Parris as Frank N. Furter, Ashley Alexander as Magenta, Jamie Lynn Cleary as Columbia, Greg Halmos as Riff Raff, Tyler Palmer as Rocky, Darian Cisneros as Eddie, David W. Lamphier as The Criminologist, and Carlo-Rufino Sabusap as Dr. Scott. Also in the cast are Taryn Bagdasarian, Sarah E. Kenny, Sergio Cannata, Annaya Osborne, Cristian Howard, Lara Williams, and Jason Pierre.

Along with director Quinn, the show’s production crew includes co-Producer Greg Halmos, Musical Director Roger Blankenship, Choreographer Danny Durr, Stage Manager Nicole Stav, and Company Manager Carlo-Rufino Sabusap.

Entr’acte Theatrix as the name suggests was started to provide the next step – from classroom to career – and provide young actors a semi-professional showcase for their talents, and an all-important opportunity to build their resumes.

The Rocky Horror Show will run for 15 performances only, from October 19th – 31st, at the PGA Arts Center. The theatre is located at 4076 PGA Boulevard, in Palm Beach Gardens (33410) Tickets are on sale now, and are available on line at www.entractetheatrix.org.  There is ample parking within close proximity to the theatre.

Tickets are $35 for general admission tickets and $40 for reserved seats.

Old Jews Telling Jokes showcases five actors in a comedy that pays tribute to and reinvents classic jokes of the past and present.   It celebrates the rich tradition of Jewish humor “and all the rabbis, complaining wives, fed-up husbands, patience-challenged physicians, gossiping ladies and competitive men” populating it. The humor can be suggestive (sometimes even raunchy) as the ‘Old Jews’ make fun of themselves as well as followers of every other religion.

Shakespeare’s shortest tragedy, thought to have first been performed in 1606, “The Scottish Play” explores the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake. Of all the plays Shakespeare wrote during the reign of James I, who was patron of Shakespeare’s acting company, Macbeth most clearly reflects the playwright’s relationship with his sovereign.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
at the PGA Arts Center
June 22 – July 2

“…Hilariously F-U-N-N-Y (enjoyment, amusement or lighthearted pleasure) and delightfully Q-U-I-R-K-Y (characterized by peculiar or unexpected traits)
night of theatre.”
Ilene Chalmers – DC Metro Theater Arts

May 30, 2017

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL:  Entr’Acte Theatrix will present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the PGA Arts Center in Palm Beach Gardens from June 22 – July 2.

“We are happy to be aligning ourselves with the PGA Arts Center, and veteran producers Dana Matthow and Philip Roy, helping to grow their new venue and their audience base to become a popular destination for theatre in mid and north Palm Beach County,” says Entr’Acte Theatrix founder and Executive Producer Vicki Halmos. “Entr’Acte has an excellent reputation as a launching pad for emerging talent in the County; several of our alumni are Carbonell Award-winners, and a number of others have gone on to receive their Equity cards, and to work on and off Broadway and in national touring companies. With Spelling Bee Entr’Acte will bring a more traditional theatrical choice to the Center’s audiences – it’s a ‘tongue in cheek’ parody – and a rollicking, funny, and heart-warming musical that will appeal to theatre patrons of all ages and stages; it will put adults in touch with their inner child, and will bring back memories of their own youth.   And the audience participation aspect of the show will add another layer of enjoyment for our audiences – who knows – they might be asked to come on stage and spell s-y-z-y-g-y.*”

Nominated for six Tony Awards, and winning 2, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee features an eclectic group of sixth graders (played by adult actors in uproariously comical caricatures), who arrive at a fictional spelling bee set in the geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School to vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime; the Bee is run by three equally quirky grown-ups.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be directed by Entr’Acte alumnus Carlo-Rufino Sabusap.  Sabusap has been with the company for10 years, and recently directed their production of Peter and the Star Catcher.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is one of my all-time favorite shows,” Sabusap says. “It’s got a small cast, but a big heart, and tells so much about the experience of growing up, and the different types of relationships kids have with their parents.  Our production will hold on to the classic moments and themes of the show, while introducing some new things here and there that I haven’t seen in other productions.  Our amazing cast is sure to deliver a fun, hilarious, but touching experience for our audiences.”

Spelling Bee’s cast consists of Robyn Eli Brenner as William Barfee, Mary Grace Tesoriero as Olive Ostrovsky, Greg Halmos as Leaf Coneybear, Rosseroni Parris as Chip Tolentino, Rachel Ihasz as Marcy Park, Amanda Ruggiero as Logan Schwartzandgrubenierre, Lissen Ellington as Rona Lisa Peretti, David W. Lamphier as Douglas Panch, James White III as Mitch Mahoney, Megan Cires as Olive’s Mom and Others, and Patrick Kolta as Carl-Dad and Others. The production’s Musical Director is Anneliesa Tretheway, and the show’s Stage Manager is Sean Smyth.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL:  Entr’Acte Theatrix and the Peter Halmos Foundation will mount an encore presentation of their well-received production of the award-winning musical play Peter and the Starcatcher from March 31st through April 9th. The show’s original run, which was produced in association with Theatre of Collaborative Arts, was interrupted by the onset of Hurricane Matthew in October 2016.  Peter and the Starcatcher will be the first production to open the brand-new Conrad N. Hilton Theatre at the Esther B. O’Keeffe Center for Creative Education in West Palm Beach.

“Entr’Acte Theatrix’ mandate to nurture and support the next generation of theatre artists, and the mission of the Center for Creative Education to empower students to grow academically, creatively, and socially through arts based education are a perfect fit,” says Entr’Acte’s Founder and Executive Producer, Vicki Halmos.

The winner of numerous honors, including five 2012 Tony Awards, Peter and the Starcatcher was named one of the New York Times, New York Magazine, New Yorker’s Top 10 shows of the year. The play is based on the best-selling novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, and was conceived for the stage by a multiple award-winning creative team including directors Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, writer Rick Elice, and composer Wayne Barker.

Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair, and the bonds of friendship, duty, and love.

A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, containing a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training, who realizes the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates – led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own – the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.

Carlo-Rufino Sabusap will once again direct the production: “Peter and the Starcatcher is by far my favorite play,” Sabusap recently explained. “I saw it on Broadway a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with its magic and inventive use of the theatrical experience. It uses some of the oldest, most traditional methods of stage craft, but uses it in a way that is totally inventive and fresh. I’m sure audiences of all ages who appreciate true, live theatre will enjoy every moment.”

All but one of the October cast members will reprise their roles: Tom Matthews will once again play Peter and Devin Tupler will play Molly Aster.  Other cast members include David W. Lamphier as Lord Leonard Aster, Rosseroni Paris as Black Stache, and Greg Halmos as Smee, Nik Rosa as Bill Slank/Fighting Prawn, Christopher Lam as Mrs. Bumbrake, Matthew Cejmer as Ted, Brayan Betancourt as Prentiss, Alex Fine as Alf/Captain Scott, Amada Ruggiero as Grempkin.  Devin Rizo joins the cast as Hawking Clam/Mack/Sanchez.

cast-photo-webEntr’Acte Theatrix is a not-for-profit, semi-professional, showcase company providing opportunities for emerging theatre artists, both on-stage and backstage.  The fifteen-year-old company gives students with a goal of working in the theatrical profession a chance to gain experience in their area of training or interest.  Entr’Acte, as the name suggests, is the “next step,” from classroom to career, and provides the young theatre artist with one of his or her all-important resume-building credits.

Peter and the Starcatcher will run from March 31 – April 9 at the Conrad N. Hilton Theatre at the Esther B. O’Keeffe Center for Creative Education in Northwood Village/West Palm Beach.
