AVENTURA & BOCA RATON, FL:  Multi-talented singer/dancer/actor/choreographer Rome Saladino will celebrate the stylings of Grammy and Juno Award-winner Michael Bublé in Feelin’ Good – A Tribute to Michael Bublé at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on December 20th and return to the Boca Black Box Center for the Arts on December 23rd.  (The show was a sell-out when it played at the Boca Black Box in April.)

Saladino will sing the songs that made the popular singer-songwriter a world-renowned phenomenon.  He will be accompanied by a seventeen-piece band at Aventura, and (due to space constraints) a seven-piece band at the Boca Black Box, talented dancers, and special guest star Cantor Geniene Shelley.

“Many people ask me why I tribute Michael Bublé,” Saladino says. “Well, because, he truly brings ALL GENERATIONS TOGETHER! Other artists do amazing jobs in their individual styles and genres, but he brought back the music of the last 100 years and made it cool again!”

Inspired by Bublé’s Jazzy Big Band style, Saladino will perform the hits that put the Canadian superstar on the charts –“Haven’t Met You Yet”, “Everything”, and “Home”, and will channel ‘Frank, Dean, Ray, and Ella’ with classics such as “Feeling Good”, “Come Fly With Me”, “Cry Me a River”, and “Sway. The evening will also include covers of The Beatles, The Eagles, Otis Redding, and Queen.  The show will also feature some of Bublé’s beloved renditions of everyone’s favorite holiday classics.

Rome Saladino was born and raised in Miami, Florida.  His extensive theatrical career – he has a bachelor’s degree in theatre from Florida Atlantic University –  has included such roles as Curly in Oklahoma, John the Baptist in Godspell, Caleb in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Charles Dalrymple in Brigadoon.  He has also appeared in Annie, A Chorus Line, Camelot, Fiddler on the Roof, and West Side Story, and he was one of the leads in Encore!  The American Theatre in Tokyo Disney, Japan.  During his ballet career he performed with the Sacramento Ballet, Icelandic Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre.  Rome appeared on the Discovery Channel during Shark Week playing the role of Ian in an Australian shark attack reenactment, and in the film, “Catch Me If You Can”, where he played an FBI Agent next to Tom Hanks. He recently self-produced, directed and starred in Singin’ and Dancin’ in the Rain, a song and dance revue honoring the career highlights of Hollywood legend Gene Kelly, and Gotta Dance, a celebration of the Great American Songbook and the Hollywood movie musical.

Geniene (Miller) Shelley has been acting, singing, and dancing since she was a child. She has had leading roles in numerous shows at the Hollywood Playhouse, Dillard High School of the Performing Arts, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and theatres in Los Angeles and Chicago. Shows include Oliver, Oklahoma, Bye Bye Birdie, Meet Me in St. Louis, HMS Pinafore, A Chorus Line, Life With Father, and Cabaret.  She is a graduate of Dillard High School for the Performing Arts and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Geniene’s life took a spiritual turn – she studied and became the Cantorial Soloist at prominent synagogues in South Florida; she can be heard weekly as the Cantor at Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center. She leads Passover Seders weddings, and religious life cycle events throughout the country. Geniene and her husband, Commissioner Bob Shelley share the love of theatre.  She is the mother of three beautiful children.

The evening will also include covers of The Beatles, The Eagles, Otis Redding, and Queen.  “It will,” says Saladino, “be an evening of some of the greatest music ever written, with the coolest new arrangements!”

Sarah Amengual began performing at age 5.  After she was bitten by the theatre bug she began performing professionally in theatre, film, voice over, and commercials.  She received her BFA from the University of Miami and moved directly from university to New York City to take over the role of Maria in the Broadway production of West Side Story.  She has worked alongside such legends as Meryl Streep, James Earl Jones, Annette Benning, Alec Baldwin and Brian Dennehy.

Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary In Style
Special performances by South Florida dance professionals
will be featured at the celebration on May 1st

April 28, 2015

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL: When Dora A’s granddaughter Ayrial’s dance school closed suddenly in 2005, the child was devastated. She had loved her lessons, and looked forward to them every week. Dora, who had been an avid attendee of a Fred Astaire dance studio for many years, decided she had to do something quickly to assuage her granddaughter’s disappointment. So she opened a dance studio of her own.

Dora modeled the look of her brand new Shall We Dance Studio on the 2004 Richard Gere/Jennifer Lopez film of the same name, with a second floor, French doors, and glass paneling. She started with three ballroom instructors – one specializing in East Coast Swing, another in West Coast swing, and the third in Argentine Tango – and just a few students.

SWD1Ten years later, Shall We Dance Studio serves over 200 students. It has expanded to second space in the same building, right next door to Dora’s first studio, and she and her instructors offer classes in ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop, not to mention East and West Coast swing, Salsa, Latin, and of course Argentine Tango. The studio is open every day.

“My life’s passion is dancing,” Dora says. “I had taken all those lessons at Fred Astaire, and I knew I could do this….although I also wanted to meet Richard Gere, but that hasn’t happened… yet!

SWD2But Ayrial did become a competitive ballroom dancer in Argentine Tango!

The Shall We Dance Studio’s 10th Anniversary Celebration will take place on May 1st at Shall We Dance Studio, which is located at 600 South Federal Highway in Deerfield Square, in Deerfield Beach (33441).

Rome Saladino

The program will include a mix of ballroom and Latin dancing, along with Argentine Tango, and East and West Coast Swing. DJ Kevin will provide the music. There will be special performances by professional ballroom dancers Ellen Cullivan and Christopher Hemmer; Argentine Tango by Michael Vincitorio, Mad Westie’s Dorie, and Hustler Vicki Pearson, with Rome Saladino and a “Grande Finale”!

Tickets to the Shall We Dance Studio’s 10th Anniversary Celebration are $15. Coffee and cake will be served.

For more information contact Dora at 954-254-3221 or shallwedancefl@yahoo.com.
