DELRAY BEACH, FL: The Delray Beach Playhouse will present actor/comedian Peter Fogel’s multi-media solo show, ‘Til Death Do Us Part… You First, for one performance only, on Wednesday, February 23 at 12:30 pm, as part of the theatre’s popular “Lunch & Laffs” Cabaret Series.
Fogel will also bring his show to the brand-new Charlotte J. Burrie Civic Center in Pompano Beach on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:30 pm.

DELRAY BEACH, FL: Devin Tupler, MNM Theatre Company’s Director of Education and Outreach Program, will helm the world premiere of Treasure Island, by South playwright Luis Roberto Herrera. The production will run from January 10th through 13that the Delray Beach Playhouse.
This version of the beloved Robert Louis Stevenson classic by playwright Luis Roberto Herrera is a swashbuckling, heart-stopping pirate adventure suitable for the entire family.
“The play is a fun 90-minute rollicking good time,” Tupler says. The playwright managed to roll a stunt show, a comedy, and a heartfelt look into what makes people truly “good” all into an hour and a half – plus he found time for MUSIC!”
Luis Roberto Herrera is a New York City based playwright with a bachelor’s degree in acting from the University of Florida. He is currently completing his M.F.A. in playwriting at The New School. He was a resident playwright in the Greenhouse Residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm and has had work produced at the Fort Lauderdale Fringe Festival and the New York Summer Theatre Festival. His full-length plays include Pale Blue Dot, Bang Bang, Poolside Glow, and Grandma’s Armchair. Poolside Glow was chosen for the New Year New Works reading series at Fantasy Theatre Factory in January 2019 and was part of the Greenhouse Development Residency 2019 program at FIU. Herrera was part of the 2019 Athena Writes fellowship at Athena Theatre Company and had a reading of Grandma’s Armchair through Zoetic Stage.
Director Tupler has assembled a multi-talented cast, several of whom will take on multiple roles in the production. James Skiba will play Billy Bones/Long John Silver, along with Eliot Mahon as Jim Hawkins, Sara Grant as Jim’s Mother/Tom/ Ben Gun, Manuel Zaldivar as Black Dog/Israel Hands/ Christian Cooper as Dr. Livesey, Doriyan Caty as Squire Trewlaney, Om Jaye as Captain Smollet, Franz Joseph as Joeb, and Blaine Deberry as Gray.
Martyna Reczka is the production’s Stage Manager, Andre Lancaster is the Technical Director, and Sonia Buchanan is handling the lights.

LAUDERHILL, FL: Grease, the rollicking rock ‘n roll musical that is both an homage to the idealism and the music of the 50s, and a satirical look at teenagers’ universal and age-old desire to be provocative and rebellious, is the first joint production of MNM Theatre Company, North End Theatre Company, and the City of Lauderhill. Grease will open on January 14th at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC) and run through January 30th.
At Rydell High School the ‘T-Birds’ are acting tough and stealing hub caps, and their gum-snapping, chain-smoking ‘Pink Ladies’ are looking hot in bobby sox and pedal pushers. But at the heart of Grease is the romance between top Burger Boy hot-rodder Danny Zuko and sweet ‘new girl in town’ Sandy Dumbrowski. Can Danny maintain his ‘cool dude’ status and still make Sandy his girl?!
Grease has become one of the world’s most popular musicals and has a cult-like following – especially among teens. The show’s book, music, and lyrics are by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, and the show features such iconic classics as “Summer Nights”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, “Beauty School Dropout”, “Greased Lightning”, and “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee”.
The showdebuted Off-Broadway on February 14, 1972, at the Eden Theatre in New York City, and transferred to Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre, and later to the Royale Theatre, closing on April 13, 1980 after a record-breaking 3,388 performances. The film adaptation of Grease premiered in 1978 and over forty years later remains on the list of the top 10 highest grossing movie musicals of all time.
Jonathan Van Dyke
“Grease is still the word, and I can’t wait to take everyone back to 1959 and Rydell High,” says the show’s director, Jonathan Van Dyke. “We are so excited about this dynamic cast and sharing this nostalgic show with fans and perhaps introducing patrons to their first Grease experience.”
Van Dyke has populated Rydell High with an impressively talented cast: Dorian Quinn will play Danny Zuko and Jessica Fernandez has been chosen to play Sandy Dumbrowski. DELRAY BEACH, FL: The Delray Beach Playhouse will open their season with a classic mystery. Dame Agatha Christie’s A Spider’s Web, a unique blend of suspense and humor, will open at the Playhouse on December 3rd, and run through December 19th.
Agatha Christie famously wrote the longest-running play in the history of the English-speaking theatre – The Mousetrap, now in its 69th year in London’s West End. Her second longest-running success is an intricately plotted mystery with comedic overtones which involves discovering a hidden treasure of unsuspected value, a young girl’s fascination with witchcraft and a hostess who must keep a murder from interfering with an important diplomatic conference.
After Clarissa Brown convinces her husband, a Foreign Office diplomat, and his two colleagues to help her hide a murdered body, the conference begins. But it is soon interrupted by the arrival of the police, who have been summoned by a mysterious call. To her chagrin, when Clarissa tries to lead the police to the body, it has disappeared. Usually adept at spinning tales of adventure to amuse her husband’s colleagues, Clarissa learns that facts can be far more terrifying than fiction.
A conscious parody of the detective thriller, Christie delivers a unique blend of suspense and humor. There is tension and laughter in equal parts in an intricate plot of murder, police, drug addicts, invisible ink, hidden doorways and secret drawers.

Told with hope, humanity and humor, the play follows Wiesenthal as he addresses a group of visitors on his last day at the Jewish Documentation Center in Vienna. As he reflects on his life and work, Wiesenthal recounts how he faced Hitler’s SS; how he endured the loss of family and friends; and how, after liberation day, he began his remarkable journey – tracking down and gathering information on fugitive Nazi war criminals so they could be brought to trial. Dugan, who was raised Irish Catholic, was inspired to write Wiesenthal by his father, a war veteran and liberator who received the Bronze Battle Star and a Purple Heart for his service in World War II.

When the statute of limitations for Nazi war criminals was about to run out in Germany, Marty travelled to Germany and convinced Chancellor Willy Brandt to abolish it – assuring that for the rest of their lives Nazi war criminals could be chased, caught, and brought to justice.
Wiesenthal enjoyed an extended run Off Broadway, as well as long runs at Rubicon Theatre in Ventura, California, and Theatre 40 in Los Angeles, where the production won the L.A. Drama Critics’ Circle Award and was nominated for three Ovation Awards (“Best Actor”, “Best Director” and “Best Play”). The show was a Critic’s Choice in the L.A. Times and was praised for the “righteous stories here that you will not forget.” The Times described Dugan as “authoritative and engaging.” The Ventura County Star reviewer called Dugan’s performance “remarkable…drawn in unforgettable strokes,” and wrote that the play “gives equal weight to the heroic wisdom and wit with which Wiesenthal lived his long and purposeful life.” The show was also a Critic’s Pick in Backstage, where Dugan’s work was called “masterful” and the writing “superlative”.

Tom’s next piece Tell Him It’s Jackie, about former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, was hailed “a stunning accomplishment” by Entertainment Weekly. Mr. Dugan recently premiered Tevye In New York at the Wallis Annenberg in Beverly Hills (“magical” – Los Angeles Times) and will begin a national tour in 2022. Dugan’s newest work, a dark comedy called Cemetery Pub will premiere in Los Angeles in 2022.
Tell Him It’s Jackie (“Scorching… impeccable” – Theater Notes) will run at the Mizner Park Cultural Center from December 15 – 19.

Pigs Do Fly Productions Soars Back With Helen and her gang… all ready to raise a ruckus!

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL: Pigs Do Fly Productions’ Helen on Wheels managed just one performance before the pandemic forced the show to shutter in March 2020. However, Pigs’ founder and Executive Producer Ellen Wacher vowed Pigs Do Fly Productions and the show would be back when the time was right. Now, with Florida COVID numbers consistently dropping, and audiences starting to attend theatre, Wacher feels “It’s time to bring the gang back!” Helen on Wheels will run from December 3rd through December 19th at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale. There will be a preview performance on December 2nd.
“We were devastated when we had to close down,” Wacher says, “But of course it was the right and only thing to do. We’ve had to make a couple of changes due to scheduling issues – a new director and two new cast members, but I am more than confident our audiences will love this production of Helen on Wheels. It is totally enjoyable, far out, very funny, and fits our Pigs Do Fly mission – to show people over 50 doing interesting things with their lives – to a ‘tee’.”

A feisty, bingo-playing, gun-toting, ruckus raising, independent woman living in the small town of Crockett, Oklahoma. That’s Helen Wheeler, the title character in Cricket Daniel’s comedy Helen on Wheels. When Helen isn’t locked up in the local clink, she’s on her front porch shootin’ up critters and the local kids. Not even the local sheriff, who has already taken away all her ammo and her driver’s license, can manage to uphold the law when it comes to Helen, her sidekick Zona, and their daily “Thelma and Louise” antics.
Beverly Blanchette will return as Helen, as will Carol Sussman as her best friend and partner in crime Zona. Todd Bruno will reprise his role as Nelson, and Michael Gioia and Steven Chambers have joined ‘the gang’ as Elmer and Seth.
Helen on Wheels’ Scenic Designer is Dean Landhuis, David Hart is the show’s Sound Designer, Preston Bircher is the Lighting Designer, and Joseph Long is the production’s Stage Manager.
“I am thrilled to have Helen on Wheels produced by Pigs Do Fly Productions,” playwright Cricket Daniel said recently. “This play is very personal to me because it was inspired by my own mother, who loved two things… my Dad and Bingo! I had an absolute blast creating these characters. I think the heart of Helen on Wheels is the friendship between Helen and Zona. Everyone needs a best friend that will wipe your tears… and help you break out of jail. Everyone needs a Zona!”
Cricket Daniel holds a theater degree from UC Santa Barbara and studied Shakespeare in Cambridge, England. She has an extensive background in improv, stand-up and theater. Cricket was a member of the national improv troupe Comedy Sportz and has performed stand-up at The Ice House and The Improv and has performed regularly in local community theatre productions. Her short play Break Dreams has been staged in New York City, Miami, Colorado Springs, Eugene, Oregon, and in Austin, TX. Her full-length play Love, Laughter & Lucci took home Best Production, Best Actress and Best Actor awards at the 2012 Golden Gravel Awards. Her full-length play Helen On Wheels was a finalist in the 2015 New Play Development Workshop through Route 66 Theatre in Chicago. Cricket is a 2012 recipient of an Arts, Beautification, and Culture Award for her contribution to local theater and is a member of The Dramatist Guild of America. She lives in Bend, Oregon with her husband and daughter.

BOCA RATON, FL: A kaleidoscopic flashback through game shows, sitcoms, disco, earth shoes, pet rocks, and lava lamps, Streakin’ Thru the 70s is an outrageous, mind-blowing dash through the much maligned ‘Me Decade’. The show, presented by MNM Theatre Company and Arts Center Management, will run from February 4th through February 20th at the Mizner Park Cultural Center, and is filled music, comedy, and memories and features over 40 hit songs.
Streakin’Thru the 70s began as a workshop by creators/writers James A. Rocco and Albert Evans, who were responsible for the off-Broadway hits Pageant and Nite Club Confidential. A six-week tryout in a small theatre in Wichita Kansas turned into a five-month run, and the enthusiastic reaction to the show, its iconic music, and uniquely 70s catch phrases and images – “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”, “How would you like a nice Hawaiian Punch”, hot pants, polyester pantsuits, and the Village Person – plus the popularity of the Broadway mega-hit Mamma Mia, emphasized the universal appeal of both mocking and simultaneously embracing the ‘what were we thinking’ culture of the 1970s.
“I am so looking forward to presenting this groovy good time and reminding audiences of what a special decade the 70s was,” says the show’s director Jonathan Van Dyke. “With all the laughs, music, fabulous fashion, and fun in this show, it will be a ‘dy no-mite’ theatrical event whether you lived it or not!”
Eric Alsford will serve as Streakin’s music director; the cast includes Shelley Keelor, Dorian Quinn, Ellie Roddy, and Ryan Michael James.
James A. Rocco is an award-winning director, writer, and theatrical consultant whose work has been seen on Broadway, off-Broadway, throughout the United States, and in London, Paris, and Tokyo. In 2013 he was recognized by the Broadway League and the Coalitions of Broadway Unions and Guilds for 25 years of dedication, craft, and contribution to theatre.
Albert Evans wrote the music for the off-Broadway hit Pageant, chosen by Time Magazine as one of the year’s ten best entertainment events. His lyrics are featured in a new performing edition of The Merry Widow, seen at New York City Opera, and televised on Live from Lincoln Center (PBS). He was the Composer in Residence for ten years at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse and is currently Artistic Associate at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.

BOCA RATON, FL: In addition to continuing to serve as MNM Theatre Company’s Producing Artistic Director, Marcie Gorman will take on another role this season – that of Director for the popular 1940s era singing group The Victory Dolls.
The Victory Dolls is a company of enormously talented and award-winning local singer/actresses whose nostalgic style is reminiscent of the sophisticated vocals and precise harmonies of the Andrews Sisters. Their vintage look, tight choreography, and lively original musical arrangements combine to create a dazzling All-American show that appeals to audiences of all ages.
The Victory Dolls have added a number of new faces to their roster this year. Ann Marie Olson, Mallory Newbrough, Elizabeth Sackett, Jessie Dez, Laura Yanez, and Molly Anne Ross will join Shelley Keelor, Sabrina Lynn Gore, Leah Marie Sessa, Jeanine Levy, Aaron Bower, and Jinon Deeb to make up an even ‘Dozen Dolls’.
Carbonell and two-time Silver Palm Award-winning music director, piano accompanist and vocal coach Caryl Fantel will serve as the group’s music director. Musical arrangements are by Phil Hinton.
Marcie Gorman has had extensive directing experience – she produced and/or helmed numerous musical productions at A.W. Dreyfoos School for the Arts during her years as a volunteer/instructor there. Prior to founding MNM, Gormanwas an educator, successful entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Under her leadership and guidance, the award-winning MNM Theatre Company has been delighting audiences with their productions of beloved American musicals since its debut in 2014. The company will produce three musicals in the coming season at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC) and one at the Mizner Park Cultural Center.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be working with this wonderful group of women on such a worthwhile project – paying tribute to our veterans – who have taken such great care of our country, and countries all over the world,” Gorman says. “I have worked with almost every one of these talented ladies before at MNM Theatre Company, and I know we are going to produce a show that will honor, inspire, and entertain everyone who sees it.”
