BOCA RATON, FL:  Lightning Bolt Productions will present Hair at the West Boca Performing Arts Center at West Boca High School from July 26th through August 4th.

When Hair first opened in 1967 it was called shocking, radical, and outrageous.  Audiences were warned about its content – racism, drugs, ‘disrespecting’ the flag, and nudity, among other things.  But over the past fifty plus years, Hair – with its iconic songs, and messages of love and freedom has become part of the American lexicon.  New York Times critic Clive Barnes’ words (quoted above) were prescient – the musical has stood the test of time and is as relevant today as it was then.

Jessie Hoffman, Lightning Bolt’s founder and Artistic Director, who recently directed the company’s well received production of Young Frankenstein, will once again take on dual duties for the production – as the show’s Director, as well as the role of Jeanie.

Jessie Hoffman

“Hair tells the story of the “tribe”, a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the “Age of Aquarius” living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War,” Hoffman explains. “Claude, his good friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves, and the sexual revolution with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society. Ultimately, Claude must decide whether to resist the draft as his friends have done, or to succumb to the pressures of his parents (and conservative America) to serve in Vietnam, compromising his pacifist principles and risking his life.

“As the daughter of a man who served this country during the very war this show references, I really wanted the chance to tell this story,” she continues. “Especially now when it’s not only the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, but when we’re living in a time that isn’t all that different from the time these characters were living in. Somehow, everything has changed since then, and yet nothing has changed since then, and Hair is a piece that people in the audience, and the people up on that stage as well, are going to be able to relate to, and the material will resonate with everyone in that theater just as much as it did when the show first opened. Not many shows can do that, but Hair is a rare exception.”

Along with Hoffman as Jeanie, the cast of Lightning Bolt’s Hair cast includes Adrian Machado as Berger, Serena Concepcion as Sheila, Daniel Nohrden as Claude, Sorangel Munoz as Dionne, Jeffery Cason Jr. as Hud, Victoria Kuhns as Crissy, Giorgio Garcia as Woof, Logan Larroque as Margaret Mead, Nikki Dikun as Leata, Brian Heredia as Steve, Shannon Motherwell as Marjorie, Mark Hernandez as Paul, Kali Clougherty as Emmaretta Alec Taylor as Tim, Annaya Osborne as Mary, Ryan Crout as Hiram, Maria Broom as Suzannah, Doriyan Caty as Gerome, and Jade Dyer as Natalie.

Ryan Crout will provide Musical Direction for Hair, and Daniel Nohrden will serve as the show’s Choreographer. Hair’s Assistant Artistic Director is Sven Ballarte, the show’s Stage Manager is Kaelea Murphy, and Shannon Motherwell will serve as Dramaturg.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL:  Halloween is just around the corner, and who better to celebrate with than the denizens of Dr. Frank N. Furter’s home-sweet-castle in Richard O’Brien’s beloved cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show.   And Entr’Acte Theatrix is inviting audiences to come do the Time Warp again… when they present ‘Rocky’ at The PGA Arts Center October 19th through October 31st.

The Rocky Horror Show is an outrageous assemblage of – and humorous tribute to – the most stereotypical science fiction and horror movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings and rock ‘n’ roll of every vintage. The play (upon which the classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show is based) has grown from an experimental production originally produced in a small London theatre in June 1973, to a cult phenomenon with fans world-wide.  The musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple who, when caught in a storm, find refuge in the home of a decidedly unusual scientist who is madly working towards unveiling his latest and greatest creation.

Rocky is also the quintessential audience participation show, and Entr’Acte will have what have come to be known as  ‘survival kits’ available for purchase for those who want them.

This is the third time Entr’Acte Theatrix will present The Rocky Horror Show.   Their 2012 and 2014 productions were so successful that when an encore presentation was suggested, it was, as Entr’Acte’s founder and producer Vicki Halmos says, “A ‘no brainer’!  Our audiences love the show,” she continues, “and so does our cast.  You can see it during rehearsals.  Their enthusiasm is boundless, and they are so excited to be able to bring all these characters to life – figuratively and literally!” she says with a smile.

“The Rocky Horror Show is just as relevant today as it was 44 years ago when it premiered,” says the production’s director, Jeremy Quinn.  “With the resurgence of hate, bigotry and violence for those who are ‘different’, it’s not only an appropriate time and place to produce the show, it’s a responsibility. RHS allows us the opportunity to give the ‘others’ a voice and platform to be seen, heard, embraced and accepted…while having A REALLY GREAT TIME AND LOADS OF SALACIOUS FUN!!!!!!!”

Cast in Entr’Acte’s Rocky are Bruno Faria as Brad Majors, Mary Grace Tesoriero as Janet Weiss, Rosseroni Parris as Frank N. Furter, Ashley Alexander as Magenta, Jamie Lynn Cleary as Columbia, Greg Halmos as Riff Raff, Tyler Palmer as Rocky, Darian Cisneros as Eddie, David W. Lamphier as The Criminologist, and Carlo-Rufino Sabusap as Dr. Scott. Also in the cast are Taryn Bagdasarian, Sarah E. Kenny, Sergio Cannata, Annaya Osborne, Cristian Howard, Lara Williams, and Jason Pierre.

Along with director Quinn, the show’s production crew includes co-Producer Greg Halmos, Musical Director Roger Blankenship, Choreographer Danny Durr, Stage Manager Nicole Stav, and Company Manager Carlo-Rufino Sabusap.

Entr’acte Theatrix as the name suggests was started to provide the next step – from classroom to career – and provide young actors a semi-professional showcase for their talents, and an all-important opportunity to build their resumes.

The Rocky Horror Show will run for 15 performances only, from October 19th – 31st, at the PGA Arts Center. The theatre is located at 4076 PGA Boulevard, in Palm Beach Gardens (33410) Tickets are on sale now, and are available on line at www.entractetheatrix.org.  There is ample parking within close proximity to the theatre.

Tickets are $35 for general admission tickets and $40 for reserved seats.
