WEST PALM BEACH, FL:  MNM Theatre Company is pleased to announce that casting has been completed for their upcoming production of the award-winning musical Man of La Mancha, which will run from September 13 – September 29 in the Rinker Playhouse at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

“We are absolutely thrilled with this cast, and this crew,” MNM’s Executive Producer/Artistic Director Marcie Gorman said recently. “We at MNM are committed to hiring locally – there is such a depth of talent and ability in South Florida – and our La Mancha actors, musicians, and entire creative team are proof of that.”

Bruce Linser, winner of the 2018 Carbonell Award for Best Direction of a Musical for his work on Woody Guthrie’s American Song, will direct Man of La Mancha:
“As an actor myself, I love working with actors during the audition and rehearsal process,” Linser says.  “They’re so hungry to get inside these characters and this story, and it’s exciting to help them personalize their work, and to watch them come alive within it.   I always look for an essence of the character within the actor at auditions, and I think this is going to be a particularly powerful retelling of this beautiful story with this particular cast of actors.”

Linser has cast Michael McKenzie* as Don Quixote, 2018 Carbonell Award-winner Anna Lise Jensen* as Aldonza, and Mark Kirschenbaum* as Sancho. (Brief biographies can be found below) Other cast members include Matthew Korinko, Johnbarry Green, Gaby Tortoledo, Ellie Pattison, Rebecca Diaz, Joey Swift, Manny Zaldivar, Jonathan Eisele, Frank Francisco, Joshua Graham, Milton Mendez, Shanna Woods, Rio Peterson, and Ben Prayz.

Paul Reekie will serve as Man of La Mancha’s Musical Director, and Christine Kellogg will choreograph the production.

Man of La Mancha will run from September 13 – September 29. The production will take place in the Raymond Kravis Center for the Performing Arts’ Rinker Playhouse.   Tickets are $65 and will be on sale on June 21st.  For tickets and information 561-832-7469; on line: www.kravis.org or mnmtheatre.org.  For group rates and sales call 561-651-4438.

“Delicious wit, compassion, a sense of humor and a feel for nostalgia.”
~The New York Times
“Genuinely funny and genuinely romantic.”
~The New York Post

April 8, 2016
MARGATE, FL: Comedy, drama, history, and romance:  Bernard Slade’s Same Time Next Year, provides a fascinating – and often very funny – look at two ordinary people who grow and change over an extended period of time.    The Tony and Drama Desk award-winning play will open at Stage Door Theatre on April 15th, and run through May 22nd.

Doris and George, both married to others, meet at a remote inn in 1951 and begin an unusual affair that lasts over 25 years.   Although they are together only once a year, and their relationship is definitely sexual, over the passage of time they develop an emotional intimacy that transcends the physical aspects of their liaison – during their times together they discuss the various issues they are experiencing in their own lives, as well as the social, moral, and political changes that are affecting them, and those around them.

Carbonell Award-winning director Andy Rogow will direct the production, which will star Matthew Korinko and Jacqueline Laggy.

Andy Rogow

Andy Rogow

“Same Time Next Year is a classic comedy for a very good reason,” says Rogow. “It’s so well constructed that even though these two people are committing annual adultery we care deeply about them and their families. We also laugh as they face the challenges of their era, which was also what made the play so successful when it opened in 1975. It wasn’t just a romantic comedy – it explored two characters facing huge societal changes; the move to the suburbs, the Vietnam War, Women’s Liberation and more.”

Same Time Next Year will run from April 15 – May 22 at Stage Door Theatre in Margate. The theatre is located at 8036 Sample Road, in Margate.

Tickets for Same Time Next Year are $38 – $42; $16 student tickets are also available.  Tickets may be purchased at the Broward Stage Door Theatre box office at 954-344-7765 or on line at www.stagedoortheatre.com.

Stage Door Theatre
presents
Gypsy (mailer)
November 20 – January 3

Louise: You really would have been something, Mother.
Mama Rose: Think so?
Louise: If you had had someone to push you like I had.
Mama Rose: If I could’ve been, I would’ve been. And that’s show business.
~ Gypsy

November 16, 2015
MARGATE, FL:   Gypsy has been called “the greatest of all American musicals” (Ben Brantley, The New York Times), “arguably, in thematic terms, the quintessential American musical,” (The Hollywood Reporter), and “Broadway’s own brassy, unlikely answer to King Lear”. (Frank Rich, The New York Times). Stage Door Theatre’s production of Gypsy, directed by the company’s newly appointed artistic director Dan Kelley, and starring 2014 Carbonell Award-winner (Best Actress/Musical) Ann Marie Olson, will open on November 20th, and run through January 3rd.

Loosely based on the 1957 memoir of strip tease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, Gypsy focuses on the hopes, dreams, and gargantuan efforts of Mama Rose (“one of the few truly complex characters in the American musical….” Clive Barnes, New York Times), whose efforts to get her two daughters into show business makes her the archetypal picture of a ‘stage mother’ – a woman who will stop at nothing to make sure she gets what she wants – entirely disregarding the needs of everyone around her – including those very daughters whose lives she tries to direct and control.

Gypsy features songs that have become standards of musical theatre canon, including “Some People,” “Let Me Entertain You,” “Rose’s Turn,” and the show-stopping, “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”. Famous for helping launch lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s career, Gypsy’s book by Arthur Laurents is widely considered to be one of the classic examples of a traditional “book musical.”

“Rose is such a coveted, iconic role and I couldn’t be more honored to play her,” says Olson, who arrives at Stage Door directly from her critically acclaimed performance as Sandra Bloom in Slow Burn Theatre Company’s Big Fish.

Dan Kelley 3

Dan Kelley

“I’m so excited to be directing one of my favorite musicals of all time,” says Kelley, “Because of my great affection for this show I took special care in finding the perfect cast to bring Gypsy to life.” Kelley has cast Matthew Korinko as Herbie, and real life sisters Lola and Zoe McClure to play Baby June and Louise.

Ann Marie Olson

Ann Marie Olson

“Dan Kelley is such a delightful director and knows this famous “book musical” oh so well,” says Olson. “And after doing several shows with Matthew Korinko over the past few years, it will be fun to finally play opposite of him as a couple!”

Gypsy will run from November 20 – January 3 at The Stage Door Theatre.
Tickets for Gypsy are $38 – $42; $16 student tickets are also available. Tickets may be purchased at the Broward Stage Door Theatre box office at 954-344-7765 or on line at www.stagedoortheatre.com. Group and Subscriber Discounts are available for all Stage Door productions
