BOCA RATON, FL: Those irreverent princesses who amused and delighted audiences at the Kravis Center last May will toss their tiaras onto a stage in Boca Raton early next year. Disenchanted, the fun-loving, subversive, and definitely not-for-the kiddies’ musical revue that proves happily-ever-after can be a ‘royal pain in the ass’, will be presented once again by Marcie Gorman and MNM Theatre Company. The show will run at The Studio at MiznerPark from January 12ththrough January 21st.
“We all had so much fun with this show,” Gorman said recently. “Our cast, our crew, and of course our audiences left the theatre every night laughing and applauding! When the opportunity arose to bring the princesses back – this time to Boca – how could we say no!?
“Disenchanted is very funny, extremely clever, and yes – a little bit raunchy,” she continues, “But these princesses have a lot to say about… well just about everything. And as we all know there can be a lot of truth in comedy – and in satire.”
“It is such a pleasure to bring Disenchanted back to the stage and to Boca Raton,” says the show’s director, Jonathan Van Dyke. “This timeless tale is certain to bring audiences lots of laughs and an unexpected level of poignancy. MNM’s mission has always been to hire South Florida talent, and Van Dyke has once again assembled a stellar cast of local princesses: Reprising their May roles are Kat Gold as Mulan and Rapunzel, Leah Sessa as the Little Mermaid and Belle, and Vallery Valentine as the Princess Who Kissed the Frog. Stephanny Noria will step into Pocahontas’ and Badroulbadour’s shoes, Shelley Keelor and Kathryn Nash will share Snow White duties, Ashley Rubin and Jordan Gonzalez will rotate as Cinderella, and Sabrina Lynn Gore will play Sleeping Beauty.
MNM is also one of the very few companies in South Florida that continues to use live musicians: MAC and Bistro Award-winner Bobby Peaco will rotate with Ryan Crout as Disenchanted’s Musical Directors and pianists and will lead the production’s musical team of Julie Jacobs on Drums and Robert Ziawinski on Bass.

Disenchanted debuted Off-Broadway in 2014 and played to sold out houses and rave reviews. The show garnered a number of award nominations including ‘Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical’ (Outer Critics Circle Awards), ‘Best New Off-Broadway Musical’ (Off Broadway Alliance Awards), and two Lucille Lortel Award nominations. It has played in multiple languages in13 countries on 5 continents, including an extended 16 week run at the Straz Theatre in Tampa.

BOCA RATON, FL: MNM Theatre Company will present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at The Willow Theatre December 2 – 18. This will be the award-winning company’s first production at the popular Boca Raton venue.
Nominated for six Tony Awards, and winning 2, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee features an eclectic group of sixth graders (played by adult actors in uproariously comical caricatures), who arrive at a fictional spelling bee set in the geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School to vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime; the Bee is run by three equally quirky grown-ups. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter – one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box!

“We are so pleased to be making our Willow Theatre debut with ‘Spelling Bee’”, says Marcie Gorman, MNM’s CEO and Producing Artistic Director. “This show is fun, funny, and heartwarming all at once. It’s a bit ‘raunchy’, that’s true – so it’s not for very young audiences – but we think it will appeal to theatre patrons of just about any age. And there’s even some audience participation – it’s very possible someone will be invited onstage and asked to spell ‘syzygy*’!”
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be directed by Johnathan Van Dyke, who will also do the show’s musical staging: “I am so excited about digging into this gem of a show,” he says. “The content is so strong and a rare gift for actors to sink their teeth into such fulfilling material. The humor, music, and poignancy are all so relevant to the human condition I think audiences are in for a wonderful time at the theatre.”
Spelling Bee’s cast consists of Jen Chia as Marcy Park, Mikayla Cohen as Olive Ostrovsky, Jinon Deeb as Rona Lisa Perretti, Michael Harper as Chip Tolentino, Michael Materdomini as William Barfee, Geoffrey Mergele as Leaf Coneybear, Leah Sessa as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenniere, Troy J. Stanley as Vice Principal Douglas Panch, and James White lll as Mitch Mahoney.
As in the past, the production will be accompanied by a live band led by Musical Director Eric Alsford, with Rick Kissinger on woodwinds, Tim Kutcha on drums, Eden Marte on synthesizer, and Madalina Marcovel on cello.

LAUDERHILL, FL: Sky Masterson, Nathan Detroit, Sarah Brown, and of course Miss Adelaide… these names are often familiar to Broadway aficionados of all ages. Guys and Dolls, the third joint production to be presented by MNM Theatre Company, the City of Lauderhill, and North End Theater Company will bring these iconic characters (along with Nicely Nicely Johnson, Harry the Horse, Angie the Ox, and others) to life on the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC) stage from April 1st through April 16th.
Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City,and considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, Guys and Dolls has won multiple Tony, Drama Desk, Olivier, and Critics’ Circle awards since it debuted at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rodgers Theatre). With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Most Happy Fella) and the book by acclaimed humorist Abe Burrows and award-winning writer Jo Swerling, the show received unanimous rave reviews when it opened on November 24th, 1950.
“There is only one defect – but a serious one – about the musical, Guys and Dolls, which opened at the 46th St. Theatre last evening,” John Chappman of the New York Daily News wrote on November 25, 1950. “And I might as well report it now and get on to happier things: The big trouble with Guys and Dolls is that a performance of it lasts only one evening, when it ought to last about a week.”
The story focuses on gambler Nathan Detroit as he tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck. Meanwhile his girlfriend, nightclub performer Miss Adelaide, laments that they have been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the strait-laced missionary Sarah Brown as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually, everyone ends up right where they belong.

LAUDERHILL, FL: Grease, the rollicking rock ‘n roll musical that is both an homage to the idealism and the music of the 50s, and a satirical look at teenagers’ universal and age-old desire to be provocative and rebellious, is the first joint production of MNM Theatre Company, North End Theatre Company, and the City of Lauderhill. Grease will open on January 14th at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC) and run through January 30th.
At Rydell High School the ‘T-Birds’ are acting tough and stealing hub caps, and their gum-snapping, chain-smoking ‘Pink Ladies’ are looking hot in bobby sox and pedal pushers. But at the heart of Grease is the romance between top Burger Boy hot-rodder Danny Zuko and sweet ‘new girl in town’ Sandy Dumbrowski. Can Danny maintain his ‘cool dude’ status and still make Sandy his girl?!
Grease has become one of the world’s most popular musicals and has a cult-like following – especially among teens. The show’s book, music, and lyrics are by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, and the show features such iconic classics as “Summer Nights”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, “Beauty School Dropout”, “Greased Lightning”, and “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee”.
The showdebuted Off-Broadway on February 14, 1972, at the Eden Theatre in New York City, and transferred to Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre, and later to the Royale Theatre, closing on April 13, 1980 after a record-breaking 3,388 performances. The film adaptation of Grease premiered in 1978 and over forty years later remains on the list of the top 10 highest grossing movie musicals of all time.

BOCA RATON, FL: A kaleidoscopic flashback through game shows, sitcoms, disco, earth shoes, pet rocks, and lava lamps, Streakin’ Thru the 70s is an outrageous, mind-blowing dash through the much maligned ‘Me Decade’. The show, presented by MNM Theatre Company and Arts Center Management, will run from February 4th through February 20th at the Mizner Park Cultural Center, and is filled music, comedy, and memories and features over 40 hit songs.
Streakin’Thru the 70s began as a workshop by creators/writers James A. Rocco and Albert Evans, who were responsible for the off-Broadway hits Pageant and Nite Club Confidential. A six-week tryout in a small theatre in Wichita Kansas turned into a five-month run, and the enthusiastic reaction to the show, its iconic music, and uniquely 70s catch phrases and images – “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”, “How would you like a nice Hawaiian Punch”, hot pants, polyester pantsuits, and the Village Person – plus the popularity of the Broadway mega-hit Mamma Mia, emphasized the universal appeal of both mocking and simultaneously embracing the ‘what were we thinking’ culture of the 1970s.
“I am so looking forward to presenting this groovy good time and reminding audiences of what a special decade the 70s was,” says the show’s director Jonathan Van Dyke. “With all the laughs, music, fabulous fashion, and fun in this show, it will be a ‘dy no-mite’ theatrical event whether you lived it or not!”
Eric Alsford will serve as Streakin’s music director; the cast includes Shelley Keelor, Dorian Quinn, Ellie Roddy, and Ryan Michael James.
James A. Rocco is an award-winning director, writer, and theatrical consultant whose work has been seen on Broadway, off-Broadway, throughout the United States, and in London, Paris, and Tokyo. In 2013 he was recognized by the Broadway League and the Coalitions of Broadway Unions and Guilds for 25 years of dedication, craft, and contribution to theatre.
Albert Evans wrote the music for the off-Broadway hit Pageant, chosen by Time Magazine as one of the year’s ten best entertainment events. His lyrics are featured in a new performing edition of The Merry Widow, seen at New York City Opera, and televised on Live from Lincoln Center (PBS). He was the Composer in Residence for ten years at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse and is currently Artistic Associate at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.

BOCA RATON & DELRAY BEACH, FL: Cabaret veteran, actress, singer, comedian and storyteller Sharon Ruben will bring her “Broadway Journey through life” production, 2 Guys and a Doll Do Broadway to the Delray Beach Playhouse and the Mizner Park Cultural Center on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Joining her on stage will be two of South Florida’s top talents, actor/director Jonathan Van Dyke, and actor/cabaret artist Michael Scott Ross.
Conceived and written by Ruben and Music Director Bill Magaliff, 2 Guys and a Doll is a fast- paced celebration of the many aspects of life – “It’s about everyone’s story – from childhood to young love to marriage, divorce, turning points, the golden years – using the music of ‘the Great White Way’ to illustrate the art and relevance of the Broadway song,” Ruben explains. She relates stories of her life on stage and off – and with over 30 years ‘in the business’, she has stories to tell.
Music, and musical theatre is Ruben’s deep and abiding love and has been ‘forever’. “When I was 5, I entertained in a hula skirt on a stage with a band in the Catskill Mountains,” she says. “I share in my show how a physical limitation, which happened to me when I was four years old and contracted polio, and couldn’t raise my right arm, couldn’t stop me from communicating with people through song and dance and humor. How fortunate I am that I have done what I love all my life, and even more, that I am still doing it.”
A graduate of the Julliard School of Music, Sharon has performed at Radio City Music Hall as a principal vocalist, sung “The Star Spangled Banner” for the Knicks and the Rangers at Madison Square Garden, entertained at Feinstein’s 54 Below, and at many other venues and cabaret rooms in New York and beyond. She has also appeared in numerous musicals including Hal Prince’s Fiddler on The Roof, Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma, and Carousel with Howard Keel.
The 2 Guys joining Sharon on stage are musical theatre performers Jonathan Van Dyke and Michael Scott Ross – both of whom are well known to South Florida audiences. The show’s music director Bobby Peaco will be at the piano.
2 Guys & a Doll Do Broadway will run for two performances at the Delray Beach Playhouse on Tuesday November 2nd and Wednesday November 3rd, and at the Mizner Park Cultural Center in Boca Raton on Thursday, November 4th. SHARON RUBEN has brought her cabaret act to Feinstein’s, Tuscany, Italy and opened the season at The Ocean House. Trained at the Juilliard School of Music, Sharon has performed at Radio City Music Hall as a principal vocalist, and in many musicals including: Hal Prince’s Fiddler On The Roof, Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma and Carousel with Howard Keel. MICHAEL SCOTT ROSS (One of the Guys) is a native New Yorker who now calls Florida home. Most recent regional credits include Ned in Groundhog Day (Slow Burn Theatre Company – The Broward Center), Hysterium in …Forum (MNM Theatre Company – The Kravis Center) and How To Succeed… (Maltz Jupiter Theatre). Michael originated the role of Man 2 in the NY Regional Premiere of Edges. Other New York credits include: Raffi on Broadway (Vocalist) and Twist (Mr. Sowerberry). He has performed on the Las Vegas Strip as well as his cabarets Some Enchanted Evening and The Glory of Gershwin on various cruise lines. You can also catch Michael portraying Dick Van Dyke in Practically Perfect: The Music of Julie Andrews with Matthews Entertainment.
JONATHAN VAN DYKE (One of the Guys) started off as a dancer at Walt Disney World in high school, and then he attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. National Tour credits include Oh Calcutta starring Gennifer Flowers, Bye Bye Birdie (Albert) and You Say Tomato I Say Shut Up (Jeff Kahn). Favorite roles include Sam in Mamma Mia, Harold Hill in The Music Man, Phil Davis in White Christmas, Cosmo Singin in the Rain, Jesus in Godspell, Mervin Oglepthorpe in Smoke on the Mountain, Zach in A Chorus Line, Ernst in Cabaret, Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, Billy Earle in No No Nanette, Jesus in Godspell and Jerry in The Full Monty. He has been seen in commercials for Universal, Coke, Carrier Sea World and Nutrisystyem. His film work includes Prime Of Your Life, The Glass Window and Not Alone. Jonathan was on Americas Got Talent with the group Tell A Vision in which he was also on the creative team.
BOBBY PEACO In an interview with Playbill magazine, Jerry Herman (composer/lyricist of Hello Dolly, Mame, etc.) called Bobby Peaco “The best show pianist I have ever heard.” Bobby worked closely with Mr. Herman and appeared in his Off-Broadway revue Showtune. At the Helen Hayes Theater in Nyack, NY, he was the onstage pianist/music director for writer/director Blake Edwards’ Big Rosemary. For his work in NYC cabaret and nightclubs, he has received 9 MAC awards and 3 Bistro awards, and has music directed among many others, Julie Wilson, Terri White, Kristine Zbornik, and Emmy nominee Jackie Hoffman. Since moving to South Florida in the Summer of 2019, Bobby has music directed and played for musicals and cabaret shows at the Kravis Center, the Wick Theater, the Arts Garage, the Wilton Theater Factory, and several other venues working with Anthony Nunziata, Avery Sommers and Rob Russell, to name a few.
BILL MAGALIFF (Co-Creator, Director, Music Director) has engaged in live theatre and music for the past 35 years as a music director, director, conductor/arranger, accompanist, teacher and performer. Past work includes the Jerusalem English Speaking Theatre, Cider Mill Playhouse, and Palistage Youth Theatre. Currently he directs and arranges for the vocal group SHTYX and the band New Relics, is the music director for the original musical Holding On, leads community singing through Come, Let’s Sing! and is producing the second in a series of parodies that interpret the bible in a human and humorous way.
BOCA RATON, FL: MNM Theatre Company will partner with North End Theater Company, the production division of Arts Center Management (ACM), a multi-platform theatre management company, to produce the Broadway at LPAC series at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. ACM recently signed a long-term contract to produce the series for the City of Lauderhill. The three-show 2022 season will feature the hit musicals Grease, Sister Act, and Guys and Dolls.

The Lauderhill Performing Arts Center has hosted numerous theatrical events and productions since it opened its doors in January 2016 and has grown its audiences to include theatre patrons from not only Broward County, but from Miami/Dade and Palm Beach counties as well.

Arts Center Management is a multi-faceted theatre management, consulting, and production company whose main focus is to help theatres and theatre companies improve their programming and operations. The company was founded by ACM President Kevin Barrett in 2014. Barrett began working with the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center in 2014 and was instrumental in bringing the successful Broadway in Lauderhill series to LPAC.
