DELRAY BEACH, FL: Two entertainment icons are slated to appear at the Delray Beach Playhouse in January and February 2025.  Six-time Tony and Emmy nominee Tovah Feldshuh will bring her show Tovah is Leona! to the Pompano Beach Cultural Center January 3rd & 4th, and then move to the Delray Beach Playhouse from January 6th – 10th where she will perform the show to already sold-out houses.

And Linda Purl, known to millions from both her Broadway and Off-Broadway performances and her running roles on television series such as Happy Days, The Office, Matlock, and The Bold and the Beautiful will present her new show Linda Purl:  This Could be the Start at the Delray Beach Playhouse from February 10th – 13th.

Tovah is Leona! features highlights from the Broadway-bound musical Queen of Mean based on the New York Times best-selling biography by Piers Ransdell. The Queen of Mean becomes the Queen of Cabaret as Tovah Feldshuh becomes Leona Helmsley, commenting on and singing about everything from her meteoric rise – to her Real Estate rival Donald Trump.

Linda Purl has enjoyed a robust ongoing theatrical and musical career regionally, on international tours, and in the recording studio. She has paired up with her longtime collaborator and music director Tedd Firth for their fourth album, This Could Be the Start, the basis for this innovative and exciting concert.  The music collectively explores what happens when you stand on the edge and take the leap. Things go right, things go wrong too, love awakens, deepens, is lost and yet is inevitable.

Tickets for Tovah is Leona! and Linda Purl: This Could Be the Start are on sale now. Tickets for Tovah is Leona! are $75. (No availability at the Delray Beach Playhouse; limited availability in Pompano).   Tickets for Linda Purl range in price from $65 to $75 and are available online at delraybeachplayhouse.com or by calling 561-272-1281.  See below for performance dates and times.

BOCA RATON, FL: Off-Glades Theatre Company will present I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change beginning on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2025, at the Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park.  The production will run through February 23rd  at the popular Boca Raton venue.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change has been described as “Seinfeld set to music”, “adorable”, “silly”, and “delightful”.  Nominated for Best Musical by both the Outer Critics Circle and the Drama Desk, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change became the second-longest running Off Broadway musical in theatre history, and has been translated into numerous languages, including Chinese, Korean, Spanish, German, French, Catalan, Hebrew, Czech, and Hungarian.

The show has a timelessness that consistently appeals to audiences of all ages. With book and lyrics by Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis, The Toxic Avenger, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Over the River and Through the Woods), and music by Jimmy Roberts (The Thing About Men), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is presented in the form of a series of vignettes that mark life’s progress – all connected by the central theme of love and relationships. From single life to dating to marriage, from children to in-laws to the bitter end, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change explores the whole cycle with humor, emotion and insight.

Jodie Langel, who starred in the Off-Broadway production for over two years, will direct the show:

“This show reminds us that, when it comes to relationships, we can still find humor in those difficult moments,” Langel says. “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change celebrates love in all its stages. Be prepared to fall in love from the very first date to the very last kiss.”

The Music Director for I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is Richard Kaydas who will accompany violinist Luibov Ohrimenco at each performance. Melanie Farber will serve as the show’s Choreographer. Bryan Morris is the production’s Stage Manager.

Langel’s talented cast of four, Hannah Hayley, Alex Martinez, Bruno Faria, and Nicole Roach will play over 40 roles in the production, as they explore the many ups and downs of different relationships.

POMPANO BEACH, FL: The newly minted Pompano Players Theatre Company will present I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center from November 8th through November 17th.  This will be the second production of their inaugural season.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change with book and lyrics by Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis, Over the River and Through the Woods), and music by Jimmy Rogers (The Thing About Men), consists of a delightful series of vignettes celebrating the mating game – from single life to dating to marriage, from children to in-laws to the ‘end’.

The production will be helmed by Jeremy Quinn: “Directing I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a thrilling and profound experience,” he says. “At its core, this musical is a celebration of love in all its messy, awkward, and hilarious glory. What excites me about this show is how relatable it is for audiences from all walks of life. Whether you’ve experienced a first date disaster, navigated the challenges of long-term commitment, or even survived a breakup, the characters in this musical feel like us – they reflect our joys, insecurities, and sometimes our failures.

“Each scene is infused with humor and heart, offering a cathartic experience that reminds us that while love can be confusing and challenging, it’s also one of the most beautiful things that define us as humans,” he continues. “Ultimately, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is about connection – the desire we all have to be seen, understood, and loved. In this production, we hope to leave the audience not only entertained but perhaps a little more reflective about their own relationships, whether past, present, or future.

Quinn has assembled a talented quartet of actors to portray the ups and downs of all types of different relationships:   Eve Dillingham, Collin Salvatoré, Heather Simsay, and Lovell Rose will, between them, take on over 40 roles during the course of the production.

Music Direction for I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will be handled by multiple Carbonell Award-winner Michael Ursua. The show’s Choreographer is Amanda Lopez, Claudia Smith is the Scenic Designer, Stevie Bleich is the production’s Lighting Designer, and Penelope Williams is the Costume Designer.   Director Quinn will also take on Stage Manager duties.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will run from November 8 – 17 at Pompano Beach Cultural Center.  The theatre is located at 50 West Atlantic Boulevard, in Pompano Beach (33060)

WEST PALM BEACH, FL:  Entr’Acte Theatrix in collaboration with Theatre of Collaborative Arts will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the William G Skaff Center from June 14th through June 30th.

Based on the beloved Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast is filled with magical moments, spectacular costumes, and of course, a classic love story.  The award-winning musical, which played for thirteen years on Broadway, can be described as the perfect family entertainment – and a marvelous introduction to theatre for children of all ages.

This ‘tale as old as time’ tells the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end, and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

“I’m quite excited to be bringing this classic show to the stage in a new way,” say’s the production’s director Carlo Sabusap. “We’re hoping to present a modernized interpretation to the show in an intimate and immersive setting. The text, by Linda Woolverton and Alan Menken, will remain the same, but some of the context will be updated for today’s audiences while keeping the essential recognizable elements intact. I am very proud of our cast, they understand the importance of the story immensely, as any Disney fan would. Our audiences will leave with some fun memories, and we hope that they also take with them some of the Disney magic we present on the stage.”

“Entr’Acte Theatrix has a tradition of promoting young artists who have honed their skills working in Entr’Acte productions to director positions,” says Entr’Acte Theatrix founder and Executive Producer Vicki Halmos. “At Entr’Acte, our practice is to engage local emerging talent, and give them continuing support and opportunities to polish and enhance the skills they have learned in their various theatre training programs.”

Several Beauty and the Beast cast members were part of the Halmos’ Palm Beach Principal Players group several years ago, and are now back with freshly minted theatre degrees, and looking for the on stage and back stage experience Entr’acte provides.

“We don’t only provide on stage experience,” Halmos continues, “We have expanded our focus to include tech opportunities as well. Anyone working on our production will also be engaged with Theatre of Collaborative Arts and be gaining off-stage theatre skills, such as stage managing and all aspects of the process of the creation of theatre. The participants in our cast also do lighting, video, sound, and work on the overall design of the show – mastering these tasks will hopefully open opportunities for them to use their skills in other productions in South Florida. We hope our South Florida audience will continue to support local theater and Entr’Acte Theatrix in developing a world class body of actors and creative teams.”

Beauty and the Beast will be choreographed by Sarah Kenny.  The show’s Musical Director is Ed Kolz.  Costumes are by Rosseroni Parris, and Props will be handled by Rose Foster.  Sound is by Keri Ngo, the production’s Technical Director and Lighting Designer is Elizabeth Southwell, and the Stage Manager is Nik Rosa.

Sabusap’s cast includes James Alex Gomez as the Beast, Rose Foster as Belle, Esqui as Gaston, Greg Halmos as Lumiere, John Douglas as Cogsworth, Jamie Mattox as Mrs. Potts, Kole Rosin as Le Fou, Lilly Gomez as Chip, Sebastian Rukes as Maurice, Mia Rubins as Babette, Sarah Kenny as Enchantress, Nik Rosa as Monsieur D’Arque, and Nicole Hernandez as Madame Le Grande Bouche//Ensemble.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will run from June 14 – 30. Ticket prices range from $15 – 35 and are available online HERE or by calling 877-849-5327.  Performances are on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm, and Saturday, and Sunday at 2 pm.  All performances will take place at the William G Skaff Center, 500 Spencer Drive, in West Palm Beach (33409).

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL:  ArtBuzz Theatrics, in cooperation with Empire Stage, will present the Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos. The production will run from April 26th through May 19th at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale.

A ‘sung through’ musical with a book by William Finn and James Lapine, and music and lyrics by William Finn, Falsettos revolves around the life of a charming, intelligent, neurotic gay man named Marvin, his wife, his lover, his about-to-be-Bar-Mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door.

Falsettos is a pairing of March of the Falsettos (1981) and Falsettoland (1990), two Off-Broadway musicals written nearly a decade apart. An earlier chapter in the story of Marvin, In Trousers, premiered Off-Broadway in 1979.  Falsettos was nominated for seven Tony Awards and won two – for Best Book and Best Original Score.

“After seeing a touring production of Falsettos – I believe in the early 90s – starring Adrian Zmed, this show became an instant favorite,” says ArtBuzz Theatrics Producer and Founder Larry Buzzeo.  “The score is beautiful – ranging from energetic Sondheimish patter songs to beautiful and poignant ballads. And I have seen few stories that highlight and examine the human condition quite like this show does.

“There are no villains or heroes in Falsettos – and the show accurately presents with much humor,” he continues. “The reality is that people are very flawed, and yet we learn to still understand and love one another in the strangest and most unorthodox of situations. For me the through lines are: 1:  Adults at their core are still children, and 2: Love is the most beautiful thing in the world.”

Falsettos will be directed/music directed by Michael Ursua, whose acclaimed production of Hello, Dolly! is currently running at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center.  The production will feature Larry Buzzeo as Marvin, Jodie Langel as Trina, Jackson Goddard as Jason, Steven Fuentes as Mendel, Seana Nicol as Dr. Charlotte, Christopher R. Dybash as Whizzer, and Casey Sacco as Cordelia.

Tickets for Falsettos are $40 and are available online at https://empirestage.com  or by calling 954-678-1496.  Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 5 pm. All performances will take place at Empire Stage, 1140 N. Flagler Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.

MIAMI DADE and BROWARD COUNTIES, FL: A whirlwind of entertainment and cultural celebration awaits audiences in Miami Dade and Broward counties when YI Love Jewish presents two Purim Holiday Mini-Fest events in March. The festival promises to bring laughter, insight, and inspiration to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Esther in the Spotlight, by acclaimed playwright Rich Orloff, is an irreverent and hilarious retelling of the biblical story of Esther (the genesis of the Purim holiday). Described as “Mel Brooks meets The Bible,” this free concert version of Orloff’s comedic masterpiece offers more than just laughs; it delves into themes of identity, destiny, and the pursuit of meaning. With Orloff’s track record of theatrical excellence, including Critic’s Picks and international productions, audiences can expect an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

The ground-breaking one-person play and documentary film celebrating the character of Gimpel the Fool created by Nobel Laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer will star Howard Rypp of Israel’s acclaimed Nephesh Theatre Company.  Featuring music by Ron Wiseman, and Singer’s text translated by Saul Bellow, the film, combined with Rypp’s live performance weaves klezmer music into a surrealistic theatrical presentation. Audiences will be captivated by Gimpel’s unwavering faith and his journey through betrayal and ridicule, inspiring reflection, and belief in human goodness.  A video preview can be found here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3TkVAFHMMA

YI Love Jewish is a division of The Yiddishkayt Initiative, Inc., a not-for-profit public charity dedicated to fighting antisemitism through the arts by preserving and presenting Jewish culture and its far-reaching impact on the world. Through theater, music, lectures, film, TV, and other media, the organization strives to make the world a more accepting place. For more information visit www.yilovejewish.org.

BOCA RATON, FL:  Princeton’s famous Triangle Club will sail into Boca Raton for its 133rd year of original musical comedy with a tale as old as tide, when they present their only Palm Beach County performance of Ship Happens, a Cruisical, on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:30 pm, at The Studio at Mizner Park.

Icebergs are the least of the passengers’ problems on the less-than-luxury liner SS Gizney. While promising non-stop activities, exotic ports of call, and all the amenities, this voyage soon turns into a real ship show. Audiences should prepare to be swept away in a current of schemes, dreams, and Triangle’s unique brand of whimsy. Not since Ted has a Cruise from Princeton gone so wrong!

BOCA RATON, FL: Those irreverent princesses who amused and delighted audiences at the Kravis Center last May will toss their tiaras onto a stage in Boca Raton early next year.   Disenchanted, the fun-loving, subversive, and definitely not-for-the kiddies’ musical revue that proves happily-ever-after can be a ‘royal pain in the ass’, will be presented once again by Marcie Gorman and MNM Theatre Company. The show will run at The Studio at Mizner Park from January 12th through January 21st.

“We all had so much fun with this show,” Gorman said recently.  “Our cast, our crew, and of course our audiences left the theatre every night laughing and applauding!  When the opportunity arose to bring the princesses back – this time to Boca – how could we say no!?

“Disenchanted is very funny, extremely clever, and yes – a little bit raunchy,” she continues, “But these princesses have a lot to say about… well just about everything. And as we all know there can be a lot of truth in comedy – and in satire.”

“It is such a pleasure to bring Disenchanted back to the stage and to Boca Raton,” says the show’s director, Jonathan Van Dyke. “This timeless tale is certain to bring audiences lots of laughs and an unexpected level of poignancy. And this knockout cast and team of musicians will definitely bring a new vision to what happens after happily ever after!”

MNM’s mission has always been to hire South Florida talent, and Van Dyke has once again assembled a stellar cast of local princesses: Reprising their May roles are Kat Gold as Mulan and Rapunzel, Leah Sessa as the Little Mermaid and Belle, and Vallery Valentine as the Princess Who Kissed the Frog. Stephanny Noria will step into Pocahontas’ and Badroulbadour’s shoes, Shelley Keelor and Kathryn Nash will share Snow White duties, Ashley Rubin and Jordan Gonzalez will rotate as Cinderella, and Sabrina Lynn Gore will play Sleeping Beauty.

MNM is also one of the very few companies in South Florida that continues to use live musicians:  MAC and Bistro Award-winner Bobby Peaco will rotate with Ryan Crout as Disenchanted’s Musical Directors and pianists and will lead the production’s musical team of Julie Jacobs on Drums and Robert Ziawinski on Bass.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL:  A deviously delicious Broadway horror comedy rock sci-fi musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre-goers for over 40 years. In fact, it is currently enjoying an extremely successful run Off Broadway.   Entr’Acte Theatrix will present this beloved cult classic, created by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin), from November 9th through November 19th at the William G. Skaff Center in West Palm Beach.

“Over 20 years ago, we produced this show,” says Entr’Acte Theatrix Founder and Producer Vicki Halmos.  “I was researching by phone possibilities for the puppets used to portray Audrey II, when the morning news was interrupted by the events of 9/11, which I watched live TV. I decided to proceed with that production, to keep some level of normalcy going in my life and that of the cast and crew. As our production proceeded, I saw many parallels between the events of 9/11 and the message of Little Shop. Now, 20 years later, with this new production, we have another evidence of an evil force with the intention of ‘coming to eat the world whole”, with the events of Israel’s current challenge with the horrendous forces of evil. But, beyond the ironic parallel between these productions of Little Shop, we are fiercely working towards an excellent production to present to our community and let them draw their own conclusions.  By the way, though, I highly doubt that the writers of Little Shop had this ironic analogy in mind when they wrote this entertaining piece of musical theater.”

Meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it…blood. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!

“I am very excited to be helming Little Shop of Horrors,” says the show’s Director, Carlo Sabusap.  “Little Shop is one of those great classic Broadway musicals that reaches out to all audiences in its comedy, its sincerity, and its music. Our production will have some unique elements that I am sure will give those who experience it something to talk about, while preserving the memorable moments masterfully created by writer Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken. I am so proud of the magic this cast and crew is creating, and I hope that the audience will feel the same magic that I see in them.”

Sabusap’s Little Shop of Horrors cast includes Ryan Townsend as Seymour Krelborn, Aletta Kemp as Audrey, Murphy Hayes as Mr. Mushnik, Chase Stante as Audrey II, Greg Halmos as Orin Scrivell, Pamela Hankerson as Ronette, Sarah Romeo as Crystal, Jamie Wade as Chiffon, Nik Rosa as Puppeteer/Swing, Sebastian Rukes and Nicole Hernandez as Ensemble/Swings, and Kai as Ensemble.

The production’s Music Director is Roger Blankenship, and the Assistant Music Director is Ed Kolcz.  The show’s Music Captain is Ryan Townsend, Kai is the show’s Choreographer, Costumes are by Ashley Carlisle, and Sets and Sound are provided by Theatre of Collaborative Arts.  The Production Stage Manager is Elizabeth Southwell.
