“In any great adventure, if you don’t want to lose Victory depends upon the people that you choose So listen, Arthur, darling, closely to this news We won’t succeed on Broadway if we don’t have any Jews” From the musical Spamalot Music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, Lyrics by Eric Idle
BOCA RATON, FL: From Arlen and Harburg (“Over the Rainbow”), to Bacharach and David (“Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head”); from Rodgers and Hammerstein (Carousel) to Jerry Herman (La Cage Aux Folles); or from Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) to Bock and Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof), Jewish composers and artists have contributed mightily to the great American Songbook, to Broadway musicals, to pop music, and to theatre and the arts in general. (As Eric Idle and John Du Prez – non-Jews – so humorously rhapsodized in Spamalot).
To Life 6:Stories & Music Celebrating the Contributions of Jewish Composers, Artists, and Comedians to Broadway & Hollywoodwill open in Boca Raton’s Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park on January 16th and run through February 8th.
Once again this popular show will feature amusing anecdotes and fascinating facts about some of America’s most well-known, lauded, and iconic Jewish composers and entertainers who created and performed such musical classics as “I’ll Be Seeing You,” “Get Happy,” “Defying Gravity,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” “What the World Needs Now,” and many more.
The production, produced by Hy Juter, and written, directed, and hosted by Shari Upbin will feature top-tier South Florida actor/entertainers Kate Delaney, Bruno Faria, Shelley Keelor, and Shane Tanner. Aiden Quintana will serve as the production’s Musical Director, and Nicole Roach is the production’s Stage Manager.
“What an honor to be the director of all the To Life shows including To Life 6, the longest running come back series in Florida!” Upbin says. “Over the years we have featured some of the most talented Carbonell award-winning entertainers in town and highlighted the musical genius of the finest Jewish composers and lyricists of the 19th and 20th and 21st centuries. Our audiences have been to the Borscht Belt, tasted Egg Creams and looked at the most famous comic books, all stemming from the pens of Jewish artists. At this point we could even present an entire evening of Christmas songs as so many were written by Jewish composers!
“To Life 6 honors our Jewish immigrant ancestors from Eastern Europe, who came to America, the ‘golden medina’ the land of opportunity and freedom!” she continues. “Those immigrants whose music have become the greatest influence of American pop culture Broadway and Hollywood in the world! L’Chaim!”

Thinking Cap Theatre Presents Lizzie: The Musical Main Stage Production Runs October 18 – November 1, 2025 After 25 years, live theater finally returns to Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (October 8, 2025) – – Thinking Cap Theatre (TCT) will launch its 15th anniversary season with the riveting rock production Lizzie: The Musical, a theatrical thrill ride that slashes through Victorian repression with unapologetic abandon.
The production opens Saturday, October 18 and runs through Saturday, November 1 at the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center, 1770 Monroe Street, in vibrant downtown Hollywood. Eight performances are scheduled with varying start times.
Based on the infamous 1892 case of Lizzie Borden, the production reimagines the story of a dutiful daughter with a dark secret and a thirst for freedom. As tensions rise, Lizzie, her alluring friend Alice, rebellious maid Bridget, and manipulative sister Emma collide in a bloody storm of betrayal, desire, and liberation. Fueled by electric guitars, raw emotion, and a punk-meets-Gothic edge, Lizzie smashes through the prim corset of history with electrifying passion and a killer beat.
A champion of gender equality, Thinking Cap Theatre cast four women in the leading roles – all talented actresses, singers, and dancers who will transfix the audience during this anachronism of a tale, which pairs period costumes with contemporary rock music performed by a live five-piece rock band.
“Launching our 15th anniversary season with Lizzie: The Musical feels both exhilarating and fitting,” said Nicole Stoddard, Ph.D., Producing Artistic Director of Thinking Cap Theatre. “This show is bold, imaginative, and an incredible performance vehicle for actresses. Lizzie is more than a rock musical; it’s a visceral exploration of power, repression, and liberation that will leave audiences thrilled and thinking long after the final note.”
Originally written by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer (music and lyrics), Tim Maner (lyrics, book, and additional music), and Alan Stevens Hewitt (music and additional lyrics), Lizzie: The Musical has become an off-Broadway cult favorite—and Thinking Cap Theatre brings its own fearless take to the stage.
To get in the spirit, the audience is welcome to dress in period attire. Tickets are $45, plus service fee at https://tinyurl.com/LizzieMusical * Note, this production is rated PG-13 and for mature audiences. Students 21 and Under are FREE with Valid Student ID

“With most theatrical productions, you don’t often get the thrill of a live band sharing the stage with the actors,” said Bree-Anna Obst, Managing Director of Thinking Cap Theatre. “Lizzie amps that experience up to eleven with a five-piece rock band delivering the score in real time. It’s not just theatre—it’s a full-bodied concert-meets-musical experience that makes the story hit harder, louder, and cooler than you’d ever expect.”

ENTR’ACTE THEATRIX The Rocky Horror Show By Richard O’Brien October 10 – 26 The Rocky Horror Show is an outrageous assemblage of – and humorous tribute to – the most stereotypical science fiction and horror movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings and rock ‘n’ roll of every vintage. The play (upon which the classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show is based) has grown from an experimental production originally produced in a small London theatre in June 1973, to a cult phenomenon with fans world-wide. The quintessential audience participation show, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple who, when caught in a storm, find refuge in the home of a decidedly unusual scientist who is madly working towards unveiling his latest and greatest creation. Thinking Cap Theatre Announces Fall 2025 Season Lineup
Award-Winning, Innovative Thinking Cap Theatre Celebrates its 15th Birthday with a Dynamic Lineup as the Company in Residence at The Hollywood Art and Culture Center
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL: Thinking Cap Theatre (TCT) has revealed its Fall 2025 Season as the resident theater company of the Hollywood Art and Culture Center (HACC). TCT’s fall 2025 lineup includes the 2nd Annual Women’s Equality Day Event, which now hosts the ERAS – a new regional award to honor South Floridians who are championing gender equality – and two main stage productions, the provocative rock musical Lizzie the Musical, about alleged Victorian axe murderer Lizzie Borden, and Cymbeline, a rarely staged, genre-defying work by William Shakespeare.
“We are excited to celebrate 15 years of TCT with a dynamic lineup of programming for Hollywood residents and South Florida at large,” says Nicole Stodard, TCT’s founding Artistic Director. “There is so much amazing development and growth in Hollywood’s downtown area as the City of Hollywood turns 100 and HACC turns 50 this November! It’s an exhilarating time to be working here and partnering with HACC,” Stodard adds. To boot, TCT’s recent residency marks the return of professional theater to Hollywood for the first time since Hollywood Playhouse closed in 2003.
TCT Fall Events/Performances:
The 2nd Annual Women’s Equality Day Event & The ERAS (Equality Realized in the Arts and Other Sectors) will take place on Tuesday, August 26th at Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center. In Thinking Cap Theatre’s special lineup, audiences will experience live performances of *suffragette comedies, songs, and an Isadora Duncan-inspired dance performance.
Tickets to the Event are $25. Doors will open at 6:45pm for a celebratory reception and viewing of lobby exhibits by the League of Women Voters of Broward County, Hollywood Historical Society, and Stonewall Museum and Archives. Live performances in the theater will begin promptly at 7:30pm. The program will be approximately 1-hour long and will include honoring this year’s recipients of the ERAAS. Dessert, conversation, and photos will follow in the lobby.
The 2nd Annual Women’s Equality Day Event is presented in partnership with Hollywood Art and Culture Center. Community partners include City Theatre, League of Women Voters of Broward County, The Skirt Foundation, Women With Pride, Stonewall National Museum and Archives, and Hollywood Historical Society.
*About Suffragette Plays: Dubbed “parlor plays,” these short suffragette comedies were privately printed and originally intended for amateur performance at home in, you guessed it, people’s parlors. In the late 1970s, while doing research at Radcliffe College, scholar Bettina Friedl rediscovered these long forgotten treasures and compiled them into a special edition. These dramatic gems humorously and pointedly tackle issues such as the work/life balance dilemma and the oppressiveness of socially-prescribed gender roles. Viewers can expect to enjoy some laughs and marvel at both how far we’ve come and how we’ve still to go in the journey for equal human rights.

Entr’Acte Theatrix to present Jesus Christ Superstar June 19 – 29
“With the supremely simple concept of presenting the final week of the celebrated life of Jesus through a post-modern lens, composer Lloyd Webber and lyricist Rice created a sung-through rock opera for the ages.” ~ Simon Parris – Man in Chair
WEST PALM BEACH, FL: Entr’acte Theatrix’ second production of the 2025 season will be Jesus Christ Superstar. The iconic musical will run at the William G Skaff Center in West Palm Beach from June 19th – 29th.
The first musical by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstarhas wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers, and the Roman Empire. The beloved score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” and “Gethsemane.”
Director Matthew Farmer has cast Jacob Perry as Jesus, Elijah Rey as Judas Escariot, Anneliese Wolfanger as Mary, John Douglas as Peter, Brian Piedra as Simon, Aaron Fantacone as Annas, Chase Stante as Caiaphus, Greg Halmos as Pontius Pilate, and Carlo Sabusap as Herod. Ensemble members include Aaron Bravo, Rowan Pelfrey, Shelby Tudor, Emily Shecter and the show’s Music Director Aaliyah Amoin.
“We’re thrilled to have Matthew Farmer back with us and directing this show,” says Entr’Acte Theatrix Producer and Founder Vicki Halmos. “It’s really a full circle – for us and for him. Matt started out with us over 20 years ago, and his first role with our company was as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar!”“This innovative production will blend the powerful, timeless music of the original, in a most intimate setting,” says Farmer, who formerly served as the Creative Director at the Crest Theatre in Old School Square. “This fusion of classic and contemporary sounds will captivate audiences and create an unforgettable theatrical experience.”
“This time, we did not cast a typical actor in the role of Jesus, as we wanted a true rock sensibility,” Halmos continues. “Instead, we have cast Jacob Perry, a popular local rock/jazz musician, to get that vibe. But I have no doubt that Matt will turn him into Jesus. Jesus Christ Superstar is really Judas’ story. Our Judas also has amazing rock pipes. It’s all about hitting those notes!” she says.
“This cast is turning out to be a fun contemporary group, and they’re managing the music amazingly,” Halmos continues. “As for us, about half of our cast are returned actors from Entre’Acte’s previous shows, and half are newbies. Matt is directing this classic rock opera piece beautifully. And our Music Director AaliyahAmoin has been absolutely fierce in handling the music – she has been completely on task with this iconic score – just the way the composers intended.”
Amber Lebrun is the show’s Choreographer, Jaycie Cohen is the Sound Engineer, Elizabeth Southwell is the production’s Technical Director and Jackson Olivencia is the Stage Manager.
Jesus Christ Superstar will run from June 19 – 29 at William G Skaff Center in West Palm Beach (500 Spencer Drive, WPB, 33409). Performances are on Thursdays and Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm and 8 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm. Tickets range in price from $25 – $35 and are on sale now. POMPANO BEACH, FL: The Pompano Players final production of their inaugural season is I Do! I Do! – an intimate and nostalgic look at a marriage by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones (The Fantasticks). The production will open on May 23rd at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center and run through June 1st.
I Do! I Do! was written as a star vehicle for Mary Martin and Robert Preston; the original production received seven Tony Award nominations. The two-person musical focuses on Michael and Agnes, beginning on their wedding day, and follows them as they navigate the ups and downs of their 50 year marriage. Set to a delightful and tuneful score, I Do! I Do! is a lovely story of two soulmates navigating the realities of a life together.
The production, directed by Carbonell Award-winner Andy Rogow, will star another Carbonell Award-winner – Lindsey Corey – as Agnes, and Silver Palm Award-winner Alex Jorth as Michael.
“Although growing up I had a huge collection of hundreds of original cast albums, I never owned I Do, I Do! nor had I ever seen a production of it. So, when I was asked to direct this production it was completely new to me,” Rogow says. “It is such a charming, intimate piece, with a score that is lovely and full of melodies that I find myself humming throughout the day. It’s very similar in those ways to Schmidt and Jones most famous musical, The Fantasticks, which I directed this past fall. I Do, I Do! is also a show that relies on its star power, and we certainly have that with Lindsey Corey and Alex Jorth. They are both true triple threats and audiences are going to fall in love with them.”
The I Do! I Do! creative team includes Music Director Eric Alsford; Amanda Lopez is the show’s Choreographer, Claudia Smith is the Scenic Designer, Lowell Richard is the Lighting Designer, Penny Williams is the Costume Designer, and Elizabeth Guerra will take care of Props. Jeremy Quinn will serve as the production’s Stage Manager.
I Do! I Do! will run May 23 – June 1 at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The theatre is located at 50 West Atlantic Boulevard, in Pompano Beach (33060)
Tickets for I Do! I Do! range in price from $45 to $65. Tickets may be purchased online at https://pompanobeachculturalcenter.com or by calling 954-501-1910.

The Pompano Players’ The World Goes ‘Round (The Songs of Kander & Ebb) Opens April 25th at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center
” …an unexpected delight: a handsome, tasteful, snazzily staged outpouring of song and dance that celebrates all the virtues of the Kander-Ebb catalogue” ~ Frank Rich, The New York Times
POMPANO BEACH, FL: The Pompano Players fifth production of their inaugural season, The World Goes ‘Round – a musical retrospective of the work of the award-winning composer and lyricist duo John Kander and Fred Ebb will open on April 25th at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, and run through May 4th.
Kander and Ebb created some of Broadway’s most iconic musicals including Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Fosse. The World Goes ‘Round is a cleverly curated collection of love songs, torch songs, and wonderfully acerbic comedic numbers from those classics, as well as from many of their other lesser-known shows. The World Goes ‘Round’s title is based on a song Kander and Ebb wrote for Liza Minelli to sing in the film “New York, New York” (that song is entitled “But the World Goes ‘Round”).
“The World Goes ‘Round is, in many ways, a meditation on perseverance,” says the production’s director, Jeremy Quinn. “Through the lens of Kander and Ebb’s rich and emotionally complex songbook, this revue becomes a theatrical tapestry – one that captures the breadth of the human condition with wit, poignancy, and unflinching honesty. These songs, culled from a remarkable canon of musicals, transcend their original contexts to speak to something more universal: the ability to endure, to dream, to lose, and to begin again.
“What fascinates me most about this piece is its non-linear, mosaic structure,” Quinn says. “There is no conventional plot—no singular protagonist or conflict – but instead a series of emotional snapshots that, when placed side by side, illuminate the resilience and absurdity of simply being alive. That structure invites the audience to find themselves in the material, to make their own connections, and to interpret each moment through a personal lens.
“In approaching this production, our team embraced that openness. We explored how each song exists in conversation with the others – how humor is often a mask for heartache, how bravado can give way to vulnerability, and how joy and sorrow are never far apart. By rooting our staging in the present, we sought to underscore the timelessness of these themes: ambition, regret, longing, reinvention. These are not relics of the past – they are ever-present, ever-relevant.
“I am deeply grateful to the extraordinary artists who brought their insight and generosity to this process,” Quinn continues. “Their interpretations breathe new life into these songs, revealing fresh layers of meaning while honoring the legacy of Kander and Ebb’s iconic work. My hope is that audiences leave the theatre not only entertained, but also reminded of the quiet, miraculous act of moving forward – of continuing on, even when the path is unclear. Because, as the title insists, no matter what happens, ‘the world goes ’round.’”
Quinn’s talented cast consists of Amanda Lopez (who served as the choreographer for the Pompano Players recent productions of Respect: A Musical Journey of Women and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change), Amber Arevalo, Eve Dillingham, Ron DeStefano, and Kevin Hincapie.
The World Goes ‘Round’s creative team includes Music Director Elijah Gee; Keren Lydia is the show’s Choreographer, Claudia Smith is the Scenic Designer, and Penny Williams is the Costume Designer. Director Jeremey Quinn will also serve as the production’s Stage Manager.
The World Goes ‘Round will run April 25 – May 4 at Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The theatre is located at 50 West Atlantic Boulevard, in Pompano Beach (33060)

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific Opens at LPAC April 10th
“…Essentially this is a tenderly beautiful idyll of genuine people tossed together in a strange corner of the world; and the music, the lyrics, the singing and the acting contribute to this mood.” Brooks Atkinson – The New York Times, April 8, 1949
LAUDERHILL, FL: “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Cock-Eyed Optimist”, “Bali Ha’i”, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair” – Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific added some of the most beloved standards not only to Broadway history, but to the American Songbook. South Pacific will be the Broadway at LPAC series final production of the 2025 season, and will run at the Lauderhill Lauderhill Performing Arts Centerfrom April 10ththrough April 27th.
Based upon James A. Michener’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Tales of the South Pacific, the musical centers on Ensign Nellie Forbush, an American nurse stationed on a south Pacific Island during World War II, who falls in love with Emile de Becque a middle-aged expatriate French plantation owner, but struggles to accept his mixed-race children. A secondary romance between US Marine lieutenant Joseph Cable and Liat, a young Tonkinese woman, explores his fears of the social consequences should he marry his Asian love. “You’ve Got to be Carefully Taught”, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s moving musical exploration of racial prejudice is as applicable today as when it was introduced in 1949.
“Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific – the story itself is beautiful,” says the production’s director Michael Ursua. “Then there is this panorama of the south Pacific pitted against the narrow-mindedness of bigotry and the horror of the war that was taking place at that time. We see an awakening for some of the characters when they do their own introspection and the whole idea that people are searching for something or running away from something, or better yet, running to something, is fascinating. And the show’s message on racial tolerance is as relevant as anything written before or since.”
Director Ursua will also serve as the show’s Musical Director. He has cast Christopher Sanders as Emile de Becque, Casey Sacco as Ensign Nellie Forbush, Marisol Morales-Dow as Bloody Mary, Lovell Rose as Luther Billis, Collin Salvatore as Lt. Joseph Cable, Thaylin Maria as Liat, Bill Brewer as Lt. George Brackett, Dan Carter as Cmdr. William Harbison, Eytan Deray as Stewpot, and Eli Flynn as Professor.
South Pacific will also feature Jorge Amador, Emily Rose Cardenas, Jennifer Fraser, Tanner Fults, Santiago Garza, Dru Loman, Emily Morgan, Eric O’Keefe, Brittni Taylore Rhodes, Allyson Rosenblum, Izaiah Scott, Larry Toyter, Corey Vega, Rachel Whittington, Lauren Wickerson, and Rachel Wresh.
South Pacific will be choreographed by Alex Jorth. The production’s Lighting Designer is Clifford Spullock, Sound Design is by Christopher Wynters, the Costume Supervisor is Penny Williams, Justin Lore will provide the production’s wigs, and Joseph Long will serve as the Production Stage Manager. South Pacific is produced by Kevin Barrett and ACM Theatricals.

Hy Juter presents To Life 5: Jewish Broadway to Hollywood! Stories & Music Celebrating the Contributions of Jewish Composers and Entertainers to Broadway and the Great Hollywood Musicals At the Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park January 17 – February 2, 2025
“The humor of the blues, as Jerry (Leiber) used to say, was akin to Yiddish humor. Like, “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have no luck at all.”” Mike Stoller
BOCA RATON, FL: From George and Ira Gershwin to Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, from Irving Berlin to John Kander and Fred Ebb, or from Jerry Herman to Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein, Jewish composers and entertainers have been an integral part of the Broadway and American pop lexicon for well over a century. (And then there’s Barbra Streisand, Carole King, and even Elvis Presley – Elvis’ maternal great-great grandmother, Nancy Burdine, was Jewish. Her daughter gave birth to Doll Mansell who gave birth to Gladys Smith who gave birth to Elvis!).
These, and many more icons of the stage, screen, and recording studio will be celebrated in To Life 5: Jewish Broadway to Hollywood! Stories & Music Celebrating the Contributions of Jewish Composers and Entertainers to Broadway and the Great Hollywood Musicals. The production will run from January 17th through February 2nd at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton’s Sugar Sand Park. The popular series (To Life 1 through 4 each played to sold out houses at almost every performance) was developed by producer Hy Juter and is written by and will be directed and hosted by Shari Upbin.
This all-new 5th chapter in the series will once again feature amusing anecdotes and fascinating facts about some of America’s most well-known, lauded, and popular Jewish composers and entertainers who created and performed in such iconic productions as Mame, Guys and Dolls, Hello Dolly, Fiddler on the Roof, Milk and Honey, and many more.
The production will feature top-tier South Florida entertainers Jinon Deeb, Bruno Faria, Shelley Keelor, and Shane Tanner. Noted pianist/composer Elliot Weiss will serve as the production’s musical director. Nicole Roach is the production’s Stage Manager.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring another chapter of To Life to the stage!” Shari Upbin says. “This season we have added stories of The Yiddish Theatre to songs of the Brill Building which includes Carole King and songs by Lieber and Stoller, “Hound Dog,” “Chapel of Love”… along with favorites by Gershwin, Berlin, Sheldon Harnick and Sondheim. This one is going to be a dynamic crowd pleaser!”
To Life5 will run from January 17 through February 2 at the Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park. Tickets are $46; group rates (6 or more tickets purchased in one transaction) are $41.
